Dr. Richard Eells House
The oldest standing two-story brick house in Quincy, Dr. Eells home was a station on the Underground Railroad in the 1840's. Quincy was the first stop for fugitives this side of the Mississippi from the slave state of Missouri. Dr. Eells is credited with helping several hundred slaves make their way North to freedom.

This one hour musical play tells the story of life in the early 1840s, as immigrants came up the Mississippi River to Nauvoo on the Maid of Iowa, a beautiful little paddle-wheeler. You’ll laugh at the antics of young Eli, thrill at the dancing and music, and feel the depth of devotion of these early settlers in Nauvoo as they face the martyrdom of their leader, and the violent and dangerous exodus from their homes in the middle of winter. Tickets are free but required for admission.

This golf course is a stunning example of a golf course designed from the early part of the 20th century. Saukie was built in 1927 (opened in 1928) and designed by Thomas Bendelow. This public course is considered to be an “executive length" course and is a classic example of a short course that will challenge every golfer. Tee times available 6 a.m to 6 p.m.

Metamora Court House Museum
The Metamora Courthouse was built in 1845 and served as the center of county government until the county seat was moved to Eureka in 1896. It is one of two surviving courthouses on the historic Eighth Judicial Circuit traveled by Abraham Lincoln. In 1978 the Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The first floor of the two-story brick structure contains a central hall flanked by two exhibit rooms, one displaying artifacts of early local history, the other with exhibits describing the 1850s court system and Lincoln's life on the Eighth Judicial Circuit. On the second floor, the former courtroom and two small chambers are furnished to represent the era during which Lincoln practiced law.

Nauvoo Temple & Grounds
The Nauvoo Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was recently rebuilt in Nauvoo, one of the early settlements of the Mormon people. The structure is 150 feet tall and overlooks the Mississippi River. The temple was reconstructed on the site of the original temple which was built from 1841-1846, but later destroyed by arson after the Mormons left Nauvoo. Sacred ordinances are performed daily in the Nauvoo Temple, therefore the building is not available for tourist visits. The beautiful gardens and grounds are open to the public, located just north of the temple. The temple Information Cernter presents a free 14-minute virtual tour.
John Wood Mansion
The Mansion is the restored home of Quincy's founder and the twelfth Governor of Illinois. It's one of the Midwest's finest existing examples of Greek Revival architecture. Also on the grounds are the History Museum & Visitor's Center houses a gift shop (Quincy's History Shop) & The Lincoln Gallery.
Hyrum Smith Farm
The Hyrum Smith Farm is perfect for extended family get-togethers! This historic farm is just one mile from the temple and sleeps up to twenty comfortably. A complete remodel was finished in May 2008 and the home was made ready for families to enjoy beginning June 2008. The original pioneer brick home is 16 x 24 and is used as a dormitory with four bunk beds. The two story brick addition added in 1850 contains two master bedrooms upstairs with king beds, and two bedrooms downstairs with queen beds, plus a parlor with a queen size sofa sleeper. A later addition to the home has a family room with another sofa sleeper, TV/DVD and full bath and laundry. Adjacent to the family room is a full kitchen with all the appliances and kitchenware needed for all the guests in the home. Another addition to the north side has another bedroom with queen size bed, and a large game room and full bathroom. Remodeling included new paint, carpeting and furnishings throughout this home plus the addition of two more bathrooms for convenience and central heat and air for comfort! All utensils, dishware, linens, and towels are provided. A washer & dryer are also provided for guest use. High speed internet is available as well.

Rufus Abbot Manor
The Rufus Abbott Manor affords you the opportunity to stay in a Nauvoo Mormon Pioneer home! This historic home is just seven blocks from the Nauvoo Temple and sleeps up to ten comfortably. This home feels and looks like what it may have in the 1840’s thus letting you ‘Sleep Where the Pioneer’s Slept’. The original pioneer brick home has three bedrooms (two upstairs) and an old fashioned parlor with library, collectible curio cabinet, historic fireplace and mantle, and a queen size sofa sleeper. The sun porch also contains a breakfast bar with toaster and microwave for our guests. The master suite is on the main level in a 1903 addition to the original brick home. This large suite has a king size bed, full-size sofa sleeper, armoire, and 32” flat screen TV.

Illinois Veterans' Home All Wars Museum and Deer Park
Dedicated in 1886, the Illinois Veterans' Home is one of our nation's largest and oldest veterans home. It has often been labeled "the city witin the city" because of its size and unique set up. It is equipped with its own post office, bank, chapel, cemetery, television station and utility system. Also on the grounds is the All Wars Museum, which has 10,000 artifacts and exhibits spanning from the American Revolution to the War on Terrorism.

This 7,000 lb, 15 ft, 8-sided section of a communnications tower that supported a television broadcasting antenna and a 5lb, 1 ft piece of the antenna were located on World Trade Center Tower One when it was attacked on September 11, 2001. The antenna was designed and manufactured by Harris Corporation at its Quincy plant.

Deseret Heritage Manor is a 5 bedroom, 6 bath vacation home conveniently located in the quiet neighborhood of the Hyrum Kimball Village. It will sleep 20 comfortably. It also has a crib for the little ones. It has access to a picnic pavilion (available for day rental) which makes is doubly desirable for reunions & family gatherings. There is a old wagon bench off of the back porch so you can “sit a spell” and watch the fireflies or just enjoy the sounds of Nauvoo. This home has a very spacious living & dining area with a large table & plenty of room for all. The main floor has 2 bedrooms, a king bed suite with a walk in closet and bathroom and a large bedroom with 2 queen beds & huge closet. The kitchen and dining area provide all you appliances & kitchen needs with lots of seating. There is a 40 inch HD TV with DVD player & DVDs for some “quiet time” at home. There is a bathroom with shower with handicap access located on the main floor. There are three bedrooms on the second floor, a queen size bed with a closet, a king bed suite with walk in closet and bathroom and a family bedroom with a queen size bed and two sets of bunk beds (this bedroom will sleep 6). There are 2 bathrooms with tub/shower combo and double sinks off the hall. There is also a loft with a sitting area with a couch, chair & writing desk. The basement has a game room complete with foosball table, air hockey table, big screen TV with DVD player & a futon for lounging. A sleeping area with 4 twin beds and a bathroom with a walk in shower complete the basement living space. The laundry room is complete with washer and dryer for guest use. The home is a geo thermal heating & cooling system and ceiling fans in all bedrooms for your comfort summer & winter. There is ample off street parking for 6 vehicles.

The Barnett Bungalow, is a quaint, early 1900's home just over two blocks from the temple! With central heat and air conditioning it features a living room with queen-size sofa sleeper, love seat, TV with VCR and DVD, book shelf with early LDS and Nauvoo history, including LDS videos, and Nauvoo framed art. The completely remodeled kitchen has all new cabinets, counter-top and appliances, including full size refrigerator, range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, toaster, and all the utensils and dishware for twelve. There is comfortable wall-to-wall carpeting in the living room and two bedrooms on the main floor, each with queen size beds. The dining room has a hardwood floor, with oak dining table and chairs for six, in addition to the drop-leaf kitchen table which seats four. The large main floor bathroom has a shower/tub combination, and vanity, in addition to the laundry behind bi-fold doors. Up the carpeted stairs to the children’s quarters, an attic great room with cable TV, full-size futon and four twin beds, plus a new bathroom with a shower/tub combination. Two cots and sleeping bags available for kids, plus a port-a-crib, if needed. Sleeps 12-14 people depending on age. All linens and towels are provided, plus a washer and dryer are available for guests use. Close to everything in town...walk to groceries, restaurants, shopping and the temple.

The large living room has plenty of seating with a large spacious sectional that is also a sleeper sofa. Pianist will enjoy the Yamaha grand piano! And Also enjoy the Overhead Projection system with BluRay player and DISH network available for movie night with the family. High speed wireless internet is available throughout the home. The spacious kitchen will accommodate large families and has everything you need for your home away from home! Downstairs is a large family room with a couch and futon, and a beautiful fireplace as a center for family visiting.
