By shining a light on realized architectural projects, projects in formation, spatial experiments made visible, and public gatherings, the Biennial seeks to generate thinking about architecture and its implications for our times. It explores how creativity and imagination can radically transform lived experience as we negotiate urban, suburban, and rural contexts, as well as other places that have not yet been anticipated. Through a constellation of exhibitions, full-scale installations, and programs of events, the Biennial invites the public to engage with and think about architecture in new and unexpected ways, and to take part in a global discussion about the future of the built environment. The Legacy Walk is a dynamic outdoor LGBT history exhibit in the "Lakeview" neighborhood of Chicago. Presently, along the half mile of the North Halsted Street Corridor, between Belmont Avenue and Grace Street, ten (10) pairs of 25'-tall decorative "Rainbow Pylons" define the nexus of Chicago's LGBT community. Nestled on the eastern edge of Highland Park's bustling Central Avenue among other trendy boutiques is Ooh-La-La, a small shop that's big on style and service. Located in the historic Highland Park Movie Theatre Building, in a space previously dedicated to a millinery shop during the 30's and 40's, proprietor and designer Lisa Farrell interprets the art of millinery with a modern eye. This tres chic boutique feels like a Parisian millinery salon complete with draped velvet curtains, an elegant chaise lounge and an ornate vintage mirror. By far the most dramatic element of the salon is the wall lined with old hat blocks – a true mark of craftsmanship seldom seen in department stores. Beautifully handcrafted women's hats are displayed in small vignettes throughout the intimate salon. These one-of-a-kind couture creations are wonderfully detailed with frothy feathers, sumptuous fabrics, vintage beading or another well-crafted trim.
During the early 1900's, George Filbert, his wife and their young son, Charlie, could be seen on a horse-drawn wagon in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood delivering bottles of milk to stores and homes. It wasn't until the height of prohibition that Filbert's began making Root Beer. Now 85 years later, Ron Filbert, the fourth generation Filbert, continues to make his families famous Root Beer in the same Bridgeport neighborhood where his Great-Grandfather started it all back in 1926.

The Chicago Bandits are a women's professional softball team based in Rosemont, Illinois. Since the 2005 season, they have played as a member of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). The Bandits won the 2008 NPF championship, defeating the Washington Glory in the final game of the championship series. The team won their second NPF championship following the 2011 season when they won the championship series two games to none over the USSSA Pride. Following the 2015 season the team won its third NPF championship defeating the USSSA Pride two games to none. They play their home games at Rosemont Stadium in Rosemont, Illinois.
