14th Annual Barrington Country Garden and Antique Faire
Tour the gardens of private estates in beautiful Barrington Hills. Lincoln: History to Hollywood
“Lincoln: History to Hollywood,” an exhibition of sets, costumes and props from the Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award-winning film “Lincoln,” has opened at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum complex, located in downtown Springfield, Illinois. Items of note in the exhibit include Lincoln’s office set, a vignette of Mary Lincoln’s bedroom, Lincoln’s gloves, Tad Lincoln’s tin soldiers, and the rocking chair where President Lincoln sat with Tad. Most of the furniture pieces in the exhibit are antiques from the Civil War era, not reproductions. The exhibits are on long-term loan from Spielberg and DreamWorks Studio. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum features more than 40,000 square feet of galleries, theatres and historic displays that takes visitors on a journey from Lincoln’s humble beginnings through his Presidency. The “Lincoln: History to Hollywood” exhibit will be located in Union Station, across the street from the presidential museum.

Rockford Melt Fest 2014
Winter is slowly "melting" away and it is time to celebrate the start of Spring! This event is open to all and has something for everyone. Take advantage of complimentary ice skating at the Riverview Ice House, free rides on the Rockford Park District trolley, musical performances by Missing Links and Unity the Band, a variety of food and retail vendors for you to do business with, and the ability to tour the historic Prairie Street Brewhouse. You can also participate in a fun and challenging 5K race taking you through three different downtown wards of Rockford, IL. The event will take place between Prairie Street Brewhouse and Riverview Ice House.
Tour the oldest remaining structure in the village. The home was originally owned by Montgomery’s founder, Daniel Gray. A museum offers an educational history of the Village of Montgomery. Open 2nd Tuesday and 3rd Sunday of each month, 12:30-2:30 p.m. May-October.

There Goes the Neighbor Hood - Tour of Gangster History
John Binder, mob historian and author of The Chicago Outfit, conducts the popular "There Goes the Neighbor Hood" tour of gangster history in Oak Park and River Forest. The exterior tour visits 15 houses in these two suburbs which were previously owned by major hoodlums, including Tony Accardo, Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, "Tough Tony" Capezio and "Machine Gun Jack" McGurn. John will discuss the criminal careers of the former owners, the interesting features of each home, the family's time there, and answer questions from the audience. The tour lasts approximately two hours and travel is by minibus (seats 33 people) with no walking required. The tour departs from (and returns to) the Oak Park Visitor Center. *Custom tours of Chicago and suburban gangster sites to fit any schedule are available. Bement Old Glory Festival
Located in the beautiful City Park and lawns of the Bryant Cottage State Historic Site and Historic Bryant Home, the Old Glory Festival celebrates Bement’s patriotic and agricultural heritage by hosting 50+ events the second Saturday of every June. Events include patriotic themed events, live music, food, cricket spittin’ contest, stagecoach rides, camel rides, petting zoo, antique tractor show, classic car show, plus much more. Many events are free throughout the day. Bement’s Old Glory Festival is one small town festival you don’t want to miss. The event is from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Monticello Railway Museum Father's Day Weekend
Fathers tour the train shed, then climb aboard a 1950s diesel powered train for an eight mile hour long round trip ride. Fathers ride free when accompanied by son or daughter. Reservations required.
