The 42nd Annual Illinois High School Shrine Game is scheduled for June 18, 2016 at Tucci Stadium on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. The goal of the Illinois High School Shrine Game is to have 88 all-star football players play in this annual event to represent the Illinois Coaches Association and to help support the mission Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Grand Illinois Trail and Parks Bike Tour
The 14th annual GITAP bicycle tour provides a fully-supported, bicycle-based vacation for up to 225 registrants. This year’s ride starts and ends at Coal City High School, with overnight stays in Oglesby, Washington, Bloomington-Normal (two nights), and Pontiac. Participants average 50 miles per day on quiet country roads and some off-road trails, while their luggage is transported to the next overnight destination. Riders choose between camping at designated in-town locations or staying in nearby motels. The event is not a race. Individuals ride at their own pace touring the countryside and visiting towns, restaurants, and convenience stores along the way. Breakfasts and dinners are provided. Registration costs $460 (extra for motel option) with no pledge fundraising involved.
Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games
Summer Games is Special Olympics' Illinois premiere sports competition with more than 4,000 athletes and Unified Partners competing in 6 different sports, along with 1,600 coaches, 2,000 volunteers and 3,300 family members. That totals almost 11,000 people who attend Summer Games annually! The Summer Games are held at Illinois State University in Normal and the Illinois Wesleyan University campus in Bloomington. A variety of activities are provided for the participants in addition to the sports competitions.

Connie Link Amphitheatre
This beautiful and unique amphitheatre is easily accessible from the Constitution Trail. Some of the current programs include: High School Summer Theatre productions, Dress-Up Movie Nights and the outstanding concert series known as the Sounds of the Amphitheatre, which highlights local talent from the Bloomington/Normal area. 25th Annual Champagne British Car Festival
Each summer the Annual British Car Festival presentation by the well-known, highly respected Flatlanders British Car Club takes place on the lawn of the Historic David Davis Mansion. This popular event features all vehicles of British make, displayed in all their unique and varied glory. Tours will be given of the mansion and during the lunch hour a special Bag pipe concert performed by the Prairie Thistle Pipes and Drums group.

Historic Normal Theater
Located in Uptown Normal, the Normal Theater originally opened in 1937 and was the first movie theater in Bloomington-Normal built specifically for sound films. An Art Deco showplace built with streamline design, the Normal Theater has been completely restored to its original condition. It now operates as a film center, showing classic films on the big screen as well as independent and world cinema titles. In addition, the theater is used for a wide variety of non-film events and is available for rentals where assembly seating is required.
David Foster Wallace Tour
A self guided tour of places in Bloomington-Normal was developed with a map and description of the sites to explore the life of David Foster Wallace who was an American author of novels, short stories and essays, as well as a professor of English and creative writing. Wallace is widely known for his 1996 novel Infinite Jest, which was cited by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to 2005. Infinite Jest was completed while Wallace was living in Bloomington and employed in the Illinois State University English Department. In 2013, Illinois State created an annual David Foster Wallace Conference to celebrate his life and review his works.

Visitors are invited to explore Bloomington-Normal and join in the celebration of McLean County's agricultural heritage, quilting, local history and the arts. The Barn Quilt Heritage Trail features over a dozen area barns or other farm buildings, each decorated with an 8' x 8' painted quilt square. Eaton Studio and Gallery
Eaton Studio & Gallery exhibits and sells the work of local artist Herb Eaton in a 1902 historic building in downtown Bloomington. The paintings, sculptures and drawings reflect the artist's interest in the local rivers, cornfields, gardens, circus, and music scenes. The Gallery hosts art salons, jazz and acoustic musical and theatrical events and sponsors cultural discussions focused on local community interests. Prairie Fire Theatre
Since incorporating in 1998, the Prairie Fire Theatre has provided the residents of Central Illinois with a unique musical experience. Brüegala is an annual charity beer and wine festival run by the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees. The festival has multiple food vendors, over 500 beers, 50+ wines, glasses of draft beer and wine slushies. They also will have entertainment with live music throughout the two-day event.

IWU McPherson Theatre
The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Theatre Arts houses extraordinary talent within its facilities at the McPherson Theatre. Four main stage plays are performed here annually, selected from a playbill including everything from Shakespeare to musicals. McPherson Hall, completed in 1963, is named for IWU's 10th President, Harry W. McPherson, and contains a 300-seat theatre, scene shop, classrooms and other facilities. Ironwood Golf Course
The Ironwood Golf Course is the Town's full service golf facility with 18 holes, 7,100 yards and a par 72 championship layout playing from 5400-7100 yards with four sets of tees. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. Ironwood was designed by highly regarded golf course designer Roger Packard and meanders through the Ironwood residential subdivision. Opened in 1990, Ironwood Golf Course has hosted numerous high school regional, sectional and conference tournaments, collegiate invitational tournaments, local charity events and site of C.D.G.A and U.S.G.A. qualifiers.
The Castle Theatre

University Galleries of Illinois State University features both emerging and established artists, often those whose work has not been previously presented in a comprehensive manner. University Galleries is open year-round: daily throughout the academic year and Monday-Saturday during the summer. All exhibitions and events are free and open to the general public. The Prairie Vista Golf Course is 18 holes, 6,745 yards and a par 72. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. The American Contemporary Style course, designed by Roger Packard, features bentgrass tees, greens, fairways and water hazards on 16 of the 18 holes. Other amenities include a large practice putting green, large practice chipping green and a grass driving range.

This Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course features bentgrass tees, greens and fairways that complement the wild prairie grasses which group in the rough. This picturesque Scottish Links Style golf course features 131 strategically placed sand traps and water hazards on 9 of the 18 holes. The Den at Fox Creek has become the host golf course for the Illinois High School Association's Class AA Boys State Championships. Mr. Palmer himself shot 74 during his Grand Opening Round.

The Indian Springs Golf Club is 9 holes, 3,180 yards and a par 36. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. This course features a challenging, tree-lined layout with two sets of tees. The practice facilities include an oversized putting green with a side bunker and a full length driving range. Outings, playdays and banquets are welcome but must be scheduled in advance.
Hazy Hills Golf Course
The Hazy Hills Golf Course is 9 holes, 2,900 yards and a par 35. The course offers cart rental and a pro shop with club rental. The nine-hole course at the Hazy Hills Golf Course in Hudson was designed by Ben Gildersleeve. The design of the holes, rolling terrain and pond give this course character and add to its charm.
Open Cockpit Day
This family friendly event provides opportunities for visitors to see inside the cockpits of airplanes, visit with pilots who flew the airplanes, and visit our displays inside the museum. In addition to the many exhibits in the museum, we have 8 airplanes and 3 helicopters on display in the Air Park. Get a close-up look at each aircraft and ask a host for information about the aircraft. This event is fun for children from 2 to 100 years of age.
Miller Park Zoo’s 125th Birthday!
Come celebrate with activities throughout the zoo in honor of the zoo’s 125th Birthday! There will be crafts, vendors and food to purchase as well as the many exhibits and Zookeeper interaction opportunities that are enjoyed by the whole family.
Weibring Golf Club At ISU
The Weibring Golf Club is 18 holes, 6,915 yards and a par 71. The course offers cart rental and a pro shop with club rental. Extensively renovated in 2000, the course now accommodates approximately 28,000 rounds per year and hosts more than 100 tournaments and outings. Weibring Golf Club features 18 rebuilt greens and two practice greens, bentgrass tees and fairways, Bunker Guard erosion control and tour-quality Best Sand.
Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center One Year Anniversary Celebration
Join us on the Museum Square to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center on Monday, April 25 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy refreshments and a Route 66 performance from the Sound of Illinois Chorus on the plaza at 12:15 p.m. The Museum will also offer free admission to the new permanent exhibit gallery, Making a Home, which explores the experience of living, working, farming, and creating community in McLean County.
Heartland Community College
The Heartland Community College campus is a community resource that may be scheduled as available for activities consistent with the mission and policies of the College and Board of trustees. the campus includes several conference rooms, classrooms, computer labs and an auditorium that can hold 430 people. All of these spaces can be reserved through the special events department.

Join us on Saturday, May 21st for Uptown Normal’s Pooch Parade & Pet Fair. Uptown opens its doors to its furry friends and their owners for a Pet Fair featuring pet oriented non profits, businesses and advocacy groups. Dress your pooch up in her most creative costume and participate in the parade! There are lots of great prizes to be won for the best costumes, courtesy of Uptown Normal businesses. The Pet Fair hours: 12pm-3pm, Parade: 1pm. Registration in the parade and pet fair are both free, but donations are encouraged.
