Stephenson County Historical Society Museum
The museum complex consists of five buildings; The Italianate home built by Oscar and Malvina Taylor in 1857. The Taylor home was the social center of Freeport in its time and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places; The One-Room Schoolhouse from the 1920s; The Industrial Museum featuring products manufactured in Freeport by such companies Henney Motor Company, Stover, W. T. Rawleight and Burgess Battery; The Arcade Toy Museum featuring cast iron toys made in Freeport by Arcade Manufacturing, and stamped-metal toys also made in Freeport by Structo; an authentic Log Cabin which was originally an Irish immigrant homestead. This wooded 18-hole course with narrow fairways and gently rolling terrain offers 6,107 challenging yards on its par 71 course. Opened in 1922, it is named for Lt. Clayton Ingersoll, who lost his life in an air crash over France in World War I. This course is located on Rockford's far west side and was selected by the Tiger Woods Foundation to host Tiger Woods for a two-day golf clinic in 2001 and 2004.

Highlights include a Civil War regimental flag and an extensive clothing collection. Also on the grounds are a summer kitchen, the first log schoolhouse built in Lena, an Illinois Central Railroad caboose, a general store, a recreated chapel, and a barn filled with antique vehicles and farm tools. Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater
Along the banks of the mighty Richland Creek, the first settlers founded the Village of Orangeville in 1851. Over the years, the town has always been a special place "where the women are fair, the men are strong and there's a story to be told around every corner." In the Mighty Richland Players Dinner/Dessert Theater, those fair and strong will treat attendees to a great dessert and a humorous story with a smile and a wink. Performances are at the Mighty Richland Players Theater, an 1877 Italianate Victorian building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Theater season is September through March.

This traveling exhibit highlights the evolution, biology and misconceptions of Megalodon, an enormous prehistoric shark that once swam the world's oceans. The Megalodon shark is related to the modern great white and mako sharks and was a dominant marine predator for 15 million years before it vanished 2 million years ago.

Silver Creek and Stephenson Railroad and Silvercreek Museum July 4th Celebration
All aboard the antique steam train as a 36 ton 1912 Heisler steam locomotive pulls three cabooses and two passenger flat cars for a four mile ride through farmland and across a bridge 30 feet above Yellow Creek and view the fireworks in the night sky from the train. Purchase your ticket at the Silver Creek Depot, a turn-of-the-century replica filled with railroad artifacts.
