Pioneer Gothic Church
Built in 1857, this church is a fine example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture. Pointed arched windows and doors as well as board and batten frame construction characterize this style. King Edward VII worshipped at the church in 1860, while on a hunting expedition in the area. The church was named as one of the “150 Architectural Treasures” in the State of Illinois by the Association of Illinois Architects in 2007, and is listed on the National Historic Register.
Take a Hike...and a Lunch - LaSalle Canyon
Join us for a guided hike from the Lodge to LaSalle Canyon. Participants meet in the hotel lobby of the Lodge to pick up a lunch and a "Starved Rock" backpack. Hikers will stop for lunch once they reach LaSalle Canyon. After lunch, the hike continues to Eagle Cliff and Lover's Leap. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00pm. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Hike will be around 4.5 miles round trip. This hike is classified as strenuous. Lunch includes: your choice of turkey, ham or PB&J, bag of chips, homemade granola bar, piece of fruit and a bottle of water. Advanced reservations are required as space is limited. $17 per person.

Join us for a guided hike from the Lodge to St. Louis Canyon, 11:00am - 2:00pm. Participants will meet in the hotel lobby of the Lodge to pick up a lunch and a "Starved Rock" backpack and meet their guide. Hikers will begin hiking to the top of Starved Rock, then to Aurora Canyon. Once hikers reach St. Louis Canyon they will stop for lunch - in the canyon! After lunch, hikers will hike to Sac Canyon and the canyon head of Aurora Canyon. The tour concludes at the Lodge about 2:00pm. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. This hike is approximately 4.5 miles round trip. This hike is classifies as strenuous as there will be multiple stairways. Lunch includes: ham, turkey or PB&J, bag of chips, homemade granola bar, piece of fruit and bottle of water. Advance reservations are required as space is limited. $17 per person.

Hike into History
This hiking tour is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights every month (excluding July and October). There's nothing better than a guided hike to see the best parts of the park and learn its rich history. Reserve your room or cabin at Starved Rock Lodge on Tuesday or Wednesday night and take a guided hike on Wednesday or Thursday morning at 9:00 am from the Lobby. When you get back from your hike, you'll enjoy lunch in the Dining Room. The hike on Tuesday and Wednesday will go to Starved Rock and French Canyon unless otherwise requested. On Thursday you will join the weekly Walkers Club and go along with them on their pre-scheduled, weekly hike. Family Cabins are excluded from packages.

Annual Leinenkugel Dinner
What a night for Leinenkugel lovers! Everything on the menu at the Leinie Dinner is made with Leinenkugel beers, from appetizers to dessert. Basket Weaving - Weaving with Natural Elements
A relaxing beginner class with Leesa Tipton, that will teach you the art of basket weaving. Anyone can sign up regardless of skill level. This will be a beginner level basket where everyone will take home their finished basket. Project will be a small basket with a wooden base that will hold a Yankee Candle (not included) and woven with materials from common plants from local gardens. There will also be plenty of time for visiting and sipping wine. Included is all the weaving materials needed and a glass of wine and snacks. Class can accommodate 20 people and reservations are required. 6:30-8:30pm 7/10 & 9/18 at The Studio - Cattails.
Storytelling at Fox Ridge
Many different storytelling events are held under the serenity of the pines at Fox Ridge, our outdoor education & entertainment venue, across from the main doors of the Lodge. Campfire Stories are every Saturday night from July through October. Join us and some of the Illinois Valley’s most engaging storytellers as they share stories, legends, facts and fiction around the fire. Audience participation is welcome so be ready for some fun! Storytime starts at 7:00 pm. Come and sit around the campfire and share your own stories as well as listen to stories told by professionals. Don't worry about the snacks. Popcorn and supplies for s'mores will be sold at the Fox's Den.
New Year's Eve Overnight at Starved Rock Lodge
Join the party and stay the night on New Year's Eve-Dec. 31, 2014. Stay a night at the historic Starved Rock Lodge where the New Year's Eve party takes place in the Great Hall and Starved Rock Room. The two-sided fireplace is aglow and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The cocktail hour begins with an open bar and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a New Year's Eve Dinner Buffet, a champagne toast at midnight, 1:00 am pastries and brunch on New Year`s Day. Two live bands performing during the evening to keep you entertained!
Trolley Fall Colors Tour
Enjoy Starved Rock during the most beautiful time of the year. This fall tour includes a relaxing trolley ride, hot lunch in the rustic main dining room and a guided scenic hike to Council Overhang and Ottawa Canyon. Tours are available every Monday and Saturday in October. Reservations are required. Ticket prices are $30 per adult and $25 per child (10 and under).
Christmas Trolley Lights Tour
Relax before the holidays on this illuminated tour of the LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Utica area, just days before Christmas. Let the staff plan the route and do the driving so you can enjoy light displays in our fully enclosed trolley. The trolleys are heated but you may want to bring along an extra blanket. Each tour will have a guide to get into the holiday spirit through some Christmas carols and songs. Tours run from 6-8pm and reservations are a must.
45th Annual Burgoo Festival
LaSalle County Historical Society's 45th Annual Burgoo Festival takes place in downtown Utica. Stroll the main streets of Utica for a day of crafts, shopping food and fun. While you are there be sure to try the pioneer stew (Burgoo). 9:00am - 5:00pm.
Have you ever wanted to hike all the canyons in the park? Well now you can do it in one day. Board a trolley with a pair of guides and to begin your trek at the east end of the park. Hikes leave the Lodge at 8:30a.m. & 9:00a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 & 5:00p.m. Included is trolley transportation, guides, boxed lunch (1/2 way) and a specially designed T-shirt. Starved Rock Lodge's Outdoor Woman Workshop
Trade your to-do list for a weekend for yourself and friends. Ever wanted to pull back a bow and shoot an arrow? How about learning the proper way to saddle a horse? This is a day filled with fun where women from all over will gather and learn nontraditional skills in a relaxed environment. Starved Rock Lodge and the National Wild Turkey Federation bring classes to this workshop, such as shooting. 5 workshops, 2 meals and snacks are included in both days events. The only class that will be offered on Friday is shooting and Friday is not sold alone. Call to reserve a spot! Participation in only Saturday's workshops is $65 and both days is $92 per person.

Boggio's Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show features new crafts from over 130 crafters. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
A play based on the book written by Barbara Robinson in 1971. It tells the story of Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys, six delinquent children surnamed Herdman. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a non-conventional fashion.

Playlist Theater, a cozy concert nook inside LaSalle's famed Uptown Grill, has been entertaining the Starved Rock area since 2006. This venue has hosted dozens of national acts, many of whom are quick to add the Playlist Theater as a favorite stop on their next tour. Cowboy Randy Erwin presents "Singing, Yodelin', and Trick Ropin'" at our September session. Hear and participate in music that has made the cowboy such a special part of American history during a show featuring music, folklore, and history - with rope tricks as well! Learn about the origins of cowboy culture, how they lived, worked, and spun tall tales; and about the animals cowboys worked in their daily lives. Pick up some trick-roping tips! Directed by Ellen Marincic, this warm comedy set in a drought-ridden rural town during the Depression features spinster, Lizzy Curry's family, who are beginning to despair of her ever finding a husband. Then into town rides a con man who promises to bring rain in exchange for $100. Can he also change the forecast for Lizzy? Shows are Friday & Saturday at 7:30PM and Sunday at 2:00PM.
