A Fiendish Assassination
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum unveils a breathtaking collection of items related to Lincoln’s murder and funeral in an exhibit called “A Fiendish Assassination.” Opening April 2, the exhibit includes many items that have never been seen by the public before, including two medallions that adorned Lincoln’s hearse.

The iconic image of Abraham Lincoln appears in various forms among the collections of the Illinois State Museum. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln and his funeral in Springfield, this exhibition will feature rarely seen objects that honor the memory of our 16th president. Highlights include a hair work necklace worn by the wife of Lincoln’s bodyguard on funeral train from Washington D.C. to Springfield, a life-size sculpture of the president by Lorado Taft, and a mysterious painting of the president bearing a cross on his forehead.

The International Carillon Festival, in beautiful Washington Park, features concerts by some of the world's finest carillonneurs. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. To kick off this year's 54th International Carillon Festival, Park District carillonneur Robin Austin is joined by soprano Gailyn Draper and tenor Jerry Hicks in a special program of music that Lincoln loved. The program will be narrated by Christian McWhirter, author of the new book, Battle Hymns: The Power and Popularity of Music of the Civil War.

5th Annual Downhome Music, Beer & Art Festival
The 5th Annual Downhome Music Beer Art Festival will be held on August 7th and 8th 2015 at the corner of 7th and Washington in downtown Springfield, Illinois.
