McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald and a cast of thousands bring you the 81st Anniversary of the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade, marching down State Street on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th. Whether you're moving your feet to the melodic carols of marching bands, gazing skyward at the gigantic inflatable helium balloons making their way down the street, or waving at talented entertainers in decorative floats dispensing holiday cheer, there is fun to be had by all at the biggest holiday parade in Chicago. The McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade is the only parade in the city of Chicago to feature inflatable balloons every year. Started in the times of the Great Depression, the Parade has been lifting the spirits of Chicago and bringing the community together in celebration. Over 400,000 people lines the parade route on State Street.

Mississippi Valley Wine Trail
The Mississippi Valley Wine Trail, bordering the western region of the fertile lands of Illinois along the expansive Mississippi River. Each of the five wineries are family-owned and operated, some fifth generation and some first. Each holds its own unique story, with origins dating from 1857 to 2012.
Fresh salads, incredible cat fish, crispy chicken sandwiches, and the appetizers can be a meal alone with hand made sauces and dips. Stuffed mushrooms are very popular. Friday and Saturday specials are posted out on a rustic board along the street, and range from prime rib to a local favorite, the fully loaded nachos. The name Diver Down is in recognition of the owner, who is a diver that can help out if anyone at the local marina has a spun prop, or other problem on the Ohio River. Diver Down is a full service bar, waitresses are all local characters that keep things flowing smoothly.

The Forge Brewhouse
The Forge Brewhouse is using the old traditions of "Rheinheitsgebot," the German Beer Purity Law of 1516 that only allows beer to contain barley, water and hops, to brew signature beers in house. It's pushing beyond those traditions to make a corn beer to honor one of DeKalb County's specialties, IPAs with jalepenos, and many other varieties. The Forge Brewhouse is also creating Brick Oven wood-fired farm to table pizzas.

Led by a host of mostly female scholars, new research has revealed that women were involved in the Civil War efforts of both the North and the South, in ways most people never expected. Speaker: Amanda Fesperman of the Illinois Valley Community College has been studying women in politics and history for the past 25 years and will lead an informative and fascinating discussion.
Fall Festival at Lincoln’s New Salem
Come and see what a typical autumn life was like on the 1830's Illinois prairie. There will be costumed interpreters demonstrating daily tasks such as candle dipping, butter churning, soap making, basket making, spinning wool, gardening, natural dyeing, and fishing with nets. As well as a demonstration of meat smoking that will take place in one of the log village's period smokehouses. Wild game cooking will be demonstrated in the log homes and you are also welcome to step down into the cellar at the tavern to see how fruits and vegetables were preserved during the winter.

Bishop Hill Steeple Building
Take a look back in history and visit the Steeple building, built in 1854. Architecturally intriguing it is a three-story stucco Greek Revival structure with a two-story tower and 66 six-over-six windows. It was built to be used as a hotel, but instead was used as a dwelling, school, administration building, and later housed a bank, telephone switchboard and apartments. The museum is home to the Bishop Hill Heritage Asssociation offices. The rooms and exhibit showcase historic artifacts and photos of early Colony days and take visitors back through time to a quaint prairie village. Group tours by appointment, small fee.

The Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival has been a long standing tradition began in 1982 when Wizard of Oz store owner, Jean Nelson, came up with the idea to create an Oz-themed festival. The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit community orchestra which provides a place for area musicians to use their talents in an orchestral setting. Jim Peterik's Lifeforce at the Genesee
Best known as the founder of the band Survivor, Jim Peterik brings an alternative to the raucousness of rock with Lifeforce. This ensemble creates a powerful collection of diverse rock, pop, soul, worldbeat, and contemporary jazz tunes right before the audience. Forest Park is a municipal park with the Chautauqua Auditorium, Vietnam Memorial, Family Aquatic Center, picnic areas, pavilions, baseball & softball diamonds, fishing lagoon (Crystal Lake), skateboard park, soccer fields, a youth athletic center, and more. There is an entrance to the General Dacey trail at the back of the park and the Memorial Sunken Gardens have been revitalized. The park is also home to the Festival of Lights.

The Church Street Brewing Company is a production brewery located in Itasca Illinois. We are open from 4 to 8 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, 1 to 7 pm on Saturdays, and 1 to 4 pm on Sundays. Come in, see our brewery, try a sample, have a pint or take home a growler!

A River Through History - The Des Plaines Valley Rendezvous
A River Through History is a living history reenactment of early American life at Columbia Woods Forest Preserve, as it was on the Illinois frontier prior to 1848, with emphasis on our local history from the fur trade era to the canal era. An exciting, entertaining and educational experience for all ages. We strive to create a better understanding and appreciation of our history by allowing the public and the reenactors to mingle, both as witnesses and participants, in our event. Finally, we seek to have the most authentic and highest quality reenactors and trade goods to represent our vision of the rendezvous to promote and enhance the historic, recreational and economic development of this new style National Park.

Additionally, Mistwood has five tee placements per hole with the ability to now play over 7,000 yards. Part of the recent renovation also included the construction of a brand new 5,000 square foot Performance Center at the foot of our driving range that offers custom club fitting, club repair services, and lessons.
