Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge will hold a Fall Wildlife Festival from 12-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Festival activities at wildlife refuge visitor center include nature crafts and wildlife photography exhibit, presentation with raptors by Tree House Wildlife Center, citizen science presentation and wildflower seed collection and a Junior Ranger hike for children ages 4-13. Each child will receive a Junior Ranger activity book and badge. The wildlife photography exhibit will highlight local professional and amateur photographers and will be on display at the refuge visitor center Oct. 1-14. This event is free and open to the public.
Try your hand at fishing and also learn about owls during the Pere Marquette fall program. Children will have an opportunity to fish in the Bluegill Pond before learning about owls and other creatures you may hear at night in the largest state park in Illinois. A 2-mile night hike will follow. A hot dog and marshmallow roast is scheduled after the walk. Please bring one flashlight per family and refreshments and drinks will be provided.
