Archaeology magazine has called the Nina, the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built. Pere Marquette Rendezvous
Step back in time to the days when frontier fur trappers met with fur traders and buyers during this reenactment festival at Pere Marquette State Park. The Second Annual Pere Marquette State Park Rendezvous will be a traditional Pre-1840 event with buckskinned re-enactors portraying primitive traders and campers. There will be period demonstrations, black powder and longbow shoots, camp music and food common to days on the Illinois frontier. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.

This memorial commemorates Camp Dubois, the 1803-04 winter camp of Lewis and Clark where they launched their Corps of Discovery expedition to the Pacific.
Lewis and Clark State Historic Site
The Lewis and Clark State Historic Site commemorates Camp Dubois, the 1803-1804 winter camp of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. It was at Camp Dubois that members of the Corps of Discovery prepared for their expedition to the Pacific Ocean. The 14,000 square-foot exhibit space contains six galleries that outline the background and history of the Lewis and Clark expedition from its conception to its meaning for today's America. Exhibits are kid-friendly, offering opportunities for hands-on engagement. A "reconstruction" of the winter camp, Camp Dubois, is located on the grounds near the visitor center. Its design reflects 1803 U.S. Army regulations for the construction of military posts. Interpreters are on-site daily in the camp to explain how the men prepared for the journey.
Arrival at Camp River Dubois
Come celebrate the arrival of Lewis and Clark at Camp River Dubois. This annual event commemorates December 12, the day William Clark and the men of the detachment arrived at the confluence of the "Riviere a Dubois," Mississippi and Missouri Rivers. Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower
The Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower is dedicated to the duo's history-making journey, and serves as a gateway to the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway. The Corps of Discovery voyage began here on May 14, 1804, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Take the elevator up to the top of the 180-foot-tall tower, where you’ll step out to panoramic views of the swirling river waters (the view is particularly stunning at sunset). On platforms located at 50, 100 and 150 feet visitors learn about the early days of Hartford, as well as Lewis and Clark's journey.
Twilight Thursdays at the Tower

International SUNday Festival
Get a good look at the sun through special solar telescopes during the first-ever International SUNday Festival at the Confluence Tower. Members of several local astronomical organizations will be on hand to celebrate the Summer Solstice (which falls on Father's Day this year) from Noon to 5 p.m. The first 100 families to visit will receive a pair of free Solar Glasses. There will be food vendors, including "Good Looking Kettle Corn", Eppel's Pantry and Princivalli's Cafe on hand. Representatives will also share information about the sun, our nearest star in the Solar System. Amateur astronomers will provide their own optical equipment to safely view the sun including hydrogen, alpha, calcium and white light views. This event is free, although there is a charge to tour the Tower.
Harman Family Bluegrass Concert
Enjoy the toe tapping, hand clapping sounds of the Harman Family Bluegrass Band in a live concert at the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. The Harman's music style ranges from traditional to contemporary bluegrass, country, gospel and other various types of music. The concert will help kick off the first season of events at the Tower's newly constructed outdoor amphitheater. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance by calling 618-291-9101. Lewis & Clark Frontier Dog Walk
This event will center on walking your dogs on a two mile course. There will be dog trainers, groomers, and dog adoptions from local societies. At 1:00 p.m. a guest speaker will be hosted within the Interpretive Center's theater. The event is only on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Dogs will only be allowed in the theater between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Dogs may be walked through and around Camp River Dubois. Fulkerson Mansion and Farm Museum
Colonel William H. Fulkerson's mansion and farm museum contains many rare agricultural items and equipment with emphasis on large, rare farm steam traction engines, utilized for plowing the prairie, threshing the grain, and for powering early sawmills. The estate is 14-room Southern-style Victorian mansion that has remained virtually unchanged to this day. It was placed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places in 1998.
