Illinois Game and Pet Breeders Spring Swap Meet

Ferguson Fine Arts Theatre
This theater, located on the campus of Highland Community College, features a variety of fine arts programming including vocal and instrumental music concerts, live theater, special performances, and the popular Summerset Theatre program, a community performing arts theater. The Ferguson Fine Arts Theatre is also home to HCC's Royal Scots, Big Band, Concert Band, Chorale and Highland Gallery. Lincoln-Douglas Debate Square
Experience the history of the second of the famous debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. It was at this site on August 27, 1858 that the Freeport Doctrine, an import statement regarding slavery and state's rights, was proclaimed by Douglas. The site is self-interpretative through a series of waysides that tell of the events and ideas which led up to the debates, and also includes the life-size statues "Lincoln and Douglas in Debate" by artist Lily Tolpo. The park-like setting is complete with benches, lighting and spacious walks.

100TH Anniversary of Union Dairy Celebration
Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Union Dairy with a full weekend of special events. Friday is Entertainment Night with a 50s/60s band, Jimmy Fred and the Flames and a country band, Back Country Roads. Plus enjoy a beer tent. Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater "Opal's Million Dollar Duck"
While rooting through Opal's Antique Junque Shop, two summer stock leads come across a painting that looks a lot like an old master that disappeared from the local art museum. In order to collect the insurance themselves, the divas, Desmond and Queenie, try to acquire the painting from Opal, who has other plans for the painting. The plot thickens hilariously when the two stars resort to everything from outrageous flattery to knockout drops trying to get their hands on the picture. Rockford Art Museum Exhibition - Modern Metaphors

Tour historic buildings on their original sites, and meet Stephen Mack and Hononegah as they share their home with you. Frank Lloyd Wright's Laurent House
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Laurent House in Rockford, Illinois is the only building ever designed by the famed architect for a person with a disability. Kenneth and Phyllis Laurent commissioned and lived in the home from 1952 until early 2012, when it was acquired by a private foundation and added to the National Register of Historic Places. This single-story Usonian home is both functional and beautiful, decades ahead of ADA accessibility requirements. The home features a solar hemicycle footprint, patio, fishpond, carport, and outdoor connectivity to the natural landscape. The modest home is built of Chicago Common Brick and Red Tidewater Cypress and much of the labor and materials were sourced locally from Rockford.
Victorian Village Opening Day and Main Street Market
As part of the Victorian Village opening weekend, the museum will play host to a new vintage market hosted by Rockford's own Urban Farmgirl. Featuring vendors from throughout the Midwest and across the country, it will be an open-air market showcasing vintage goods and one-of-a-kind artisan pieces. Guided tours of the Victorian Village as well as entrance to the Main Museum Center are also part of admission.
2014 Rockford Midwestern - Biennial Juried Art Exhibition
The Rockford Midwestern is a biennial juried exhibition that originated as an annual showcase for local artists. The year 2014 marks the 73rd presentation of this regional show that draws the best works from artists from a nine-state region. Artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin participate. With this exhibition, Rockford Art Museum shows its commitment to presenting the breadth and depth of contemporary art in the Midwest.

Rockford Half Marathon and 10K
This year's event features two events: the wildly popular 13.1-mile half marathon and a sibling 10K run. In addition to Rockford area runners, the event draws participants from more than 20 states. Located just an hour's drive northwest of Chicago and a half-hour south of Madison, WI, the course route is along Rockford's scenic Rock River. It's a relaxing, yet challenging, event with two great options for runners at every skill level.
OSF Heritage Run
The 30th Annual Heritage Run includes 10k (6.2 miles) and 2-mile races along with a 2-mile walk and kids' fun run. Races go through downtown and neighborhoods and finish in front of the BMO Harris Bank Center. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the YMCA Rock River Valley. Veterans Memorial Hall
Dedicated in 1903 in ceremonies that included a speech by Teddy Roosevelt, Memorial Hall is a tribute to Rockford citizens who have served in the Armed Forces. Large wall plaques list names of fallen veterans, and cases in the main lobby, side rooms and the lower level display Armed Services artifacts including memories of the Civil War, the World Wars and Camp Grant. The renovated second floor auditorium is used by cultural groups for shows and presentations and is accessible via the elevator.
