The world’s reigning male chorus” (The New Yorker) returns to Ravinia with a program displaying its characteristic mix of music spanning 10 centuries, from Gregorian chant to Romantic art song to new, commissioned works and contemporary music arrangements. “She Said/He Said” explores music and texts depicting the feminine ideal in ancient times and forward to the harmony and tension between the sexes as set by later composers. Chicago's Memorial Day Parade honors all men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country. The Wreath Laying Ceremony will begin at 11am at the Eternal Flame on Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets). The parade will step off at noon and proceed south on State Street from Lake Street to Van Buren Street. The Chicago parade is considered one of the largest Memorial Day parades in the nation. Built in 1857, this church is a fine example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture. Pointed arched windows and doors as well as board and batten frame construction characterize this style. Arthur Area Freedom Celebration
The event kicks off with a parade followed by a gigantic fireworks display with an exceptional array of shells at Jurgens Park. Sheep to Clothing at Lincoln Log Cabin
Follow the process of creating fabric in the 19th century, beginning with raw wool, our volunteers will take you through the entire spectrum of home based manufacturing process; quite literally from sheep to clothing. The Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will kick off their fundraising campaign for the restoration of the Moore Home, scene of Abraham Lincoln’s family farewell before leaving for Washington DC in 1861, with a unique pledge drive. The site manager will be weaving Venetian Carpet throughout the day with pledges for the number of yards woven. Also enjoy the Victory Garden Plant Sale: the Lincoln-Sargent Farm Foundation will again be selling heirloom flowers, plants and herbs to raise funds to support the educational and interpretive programming at Lincoln Log Cabin. All events will run from 10am-4pm.

Sign up today for the annual 5K run & walk. There will also be a special children's race beginning at 7:30am. Registration begins at 6:30am with the 5k starting at 8am. Cost is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the race.
