Paramount Theatrical Production: West Side Story
It’s quite possibly one of the greatest love stories ever to be told in a musical. Set in the blue-collar neighborhood of New York’s Upper West Side, racial tensions run high as residents try to grind out a daily living. Swimming in Lake Lou Yeager is the best OWS you will have in the Midwest. There really is no comparison to this large beach with pristine flat racing water. The bike course is flat and fast with some great curves to keep you entertained the whole ride. Both the 5k and 10k runs see very honest mile paces with plenty of flats, and a couple hills throughout.
Art on the Lawn - Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden
Art on the Lawn, a Rockford tradition since 2000, is moving to a new home at Klehm Arboretum in 2015. The juried fine art show will feature a wide variety of fine art in many media available to purchase: photograph, ceramics, fiber/paper, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture, wearable art and more. Admission includes both entrance to the garden for the day and that evening's Woodsong, Klehm's outdoor concert series, starting at 6:00pm.

An Evening With Santana at Ravinia
Santana became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered rock, salsa and jazz fusion. The band's sound featured his melodic, blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms featuring percussion instruments such as timbales and congas not generally heard in rock music. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades. He will be performing 2 nights. 1930's Ag Museum
This privately owned museum houses forty-two John Deere farm implements manufactured in the late 1920's through 1940. Showcased is a 1936 Model B John Deere Tractor, fully restored. The Ag Museum also features an antique horse equipment collection and period farm house furnishings, as well as equipment and hand tools found on a 1930's farmstead. All free of charge, open by appointment, located on the northern edge of Quincy.

The Silkwood Inn was built in 1827 and contains furnishings and artifacts from the 1800s. A tour trough this amazing Inn includes the telling of a famous local legend about the kindness of the Silkwood family, a slave girl named Priscilla, and the Trail of Tears. The museum is free to the public but donations are accepted.

Race Fan Rally
The Race Fan Rally is a yearly NASCAR event on the second Thursday of September and a kickoff event to the NASCAR weekend at the Speedway. Mississippi Mud Pottery
Natural clay materials are molded and crafted right before your eyes into creative, functional stoneware pottery. Actual fish that have been caught on a hook and line are used to create a mold and clay is used to reproduce a likeness of the fish. After firing, the clay is glazed and natural or artistic colorations are applied. The finished piece is a unique one of a kind piece - a reminder of the one that did not get away!
