Though difficult and frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins at first, the lessons soon begin to work wonders, and produce results that neither predict.

The Den at Fox Creek
The Den at Fox Creek is 18 holes, 6,926 yards and a par 72. The course offers cart rental, a driving range and has a pro shop with club rental. This Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course features bentgrass tees, greens and fairways that complement the wild prairie grasses which group in the rough. This picturesque Scottish Links Style golf course features 131 strategically placed sand traps and water hazards on 9 of the 18 holes. The Den at Fox Creek has become the host golf course for the Illinois High School Association's Class AA Boys State Championships. Mr. Palmer himself shot 74 during his Grand Opening Round.
Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center One Year Anniversary Celebration
Join us on the Museum Square to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center on Monday, April 25 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy refreshments and a Route 66 performance from the Sound of Illinois Chorus on the plaza at 12:15 p.m. The Museum will also offer free admission to the new permanent exhibit gallery, Making a Home, which explores the experience of living, working, farming, and creating community in McLean County.
Open House at Haskell Playhouse
Come and take a tour of this historic playhouse the 2nd Saturday of every month. This playhouse was built by Dr. and Mrs. William Haskell for their five year old daughter Lucy. It is a rare architectural gem containing many of the flamboyant elements of the Queen Anne style: cartwheels, brackets, spires, diagonal sticking, fish scale shingles and stained glass windows. It's importance is magnified because so few of these accessory structures for children have survived. The playhouse contains a single room, front porch and side porch. The interior has been restored and the playhouse is open for special occasions. The playhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

It will feature three days of four-ball competition and one day of singles matches on Sunday. The dragons are coming to Blue Island for the inaugural Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival. Watch these long 20-seat boats with a dragon decoration on the outside mimic the old war canoes of ancient Asian past. This ancient Chinese sport has become one of the fierce competitions throughout the world, and is growing rapidly in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States. 9AM-3PM.
The Lincoln’s Festival in Bloomington is an annual event that celebrates Abraham Lincoln’s connection to Bloomington-Normal and it’s surrounding communities. McCully Heritage Project
The McCully Heritage Project is a natural area made up of 940 acres of hills and hollows in Calhoun County, Illinois. The project offers 15 miles of hiking and horse back riding trails, two ponds for fishing and turtle watching, a wetland with a boardwalk, a hill prairie plot and more. Hiking is pleasant even in the summer as the wooded trails provide plenty of shade. Facilities are available for group activities, large and small. The focus of the McCully Heritage Project is upon cultural and environmental enjoyment, education, and preservation. The general public is welcome to hike, picnic, bird watch, and enjoy the natural beauty of the site. Barn Quilt Heritage Trail
Visitors are invited to explore Bloomington-Normal and join in the celebration of McLean County's agricultural heritage, quilting, local history and the arts. The Barn Quilt Heritage Trail features over a dozen area barns or other farm buildings, each decorated with an 8' x 8' painted quilt square. Lewis & Clark Frontier Dog Walk
This event will center on walking your dogs on a two mile course. There will be dog trainers, groomers, and dog adoptions from local societies. At 1:00 p.m. a guest speaker will be hosted within the Interpretive Center's theater. The event is only on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Dogs will only be allowed in the theater between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Dogs may be walked through and around Camp River Dubois. Midwest SOARRING Foundation's Native American Cultural Center
Midwest SOARRING (Save Our Ancestors Remains & Resources Indigenous Network Group) Foundation was formed in November of 1996. They are a Native American non-profit organization who assists with repatriation, protection of sacred sites and educates the public about Native American culture, through Pow Wows, cultural programs and environmental issues. The new Cultural Center is made possible by a lease obtained through the City of Lockport.

Highland Park Golf Course
Built in the 1930's, this golf course offers old, mature trees lining each fairway on the 5,539 yard course. In addition to the narrow fairways, small greens make for a challenging round.
