2014 Southern Illinois Music Festival
The 10th annual Southern Illinois Music festival features dozens of performances in venues from Mt. Vernon to Cairo and Murphysboro to Marion with the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale at the heart of the Festival. Annual Black Family Reunion
For the past 20 years, the Rockford Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Inc. has sponsored the Black Family Reunion Celebration. Since its inception, thousands of individuals of every background have enjoyed this fun-filled and informative event. The event will bring individuals, consumers, corporations, communities, and government agencies together to focus on the traditions and strengths of the Black Family and, by extension, families of all ancestries. Barn Quilts of DeWitt County Bus Tour
Gearing up for our fourth year of creating barn quilt magic in DeWitt County. Throughout the county, vibrant, hand-painted 8’X8’ quilt blocks on ‘wooden canvases’ adorn numerous barns, making a drive through the countryside all the more enjoyable. Bus tours are on the first Saturday in June and October from 9am - 1pm.

Phantom Regiment - 39th Annual Show of Shows
Experience the art of musical pageantry as the Show of Shows features some of the best drum and bugle corps in the world. This year's lineup is one of the largest in the Midwest. Illinois Triathlon Championship
Millions of dollars for a renovation of a quarry has made the Three Oaks Recreation Area into one of Illinois great new Triathlon venues! If you are looking for one of those 3000 person crammed events where you really, truly can’t race, but just like being part of the crowd to say you did a triathlon this is not the venue. We can fit about 1000 athletes at this venue but it is completely worth it. Crystal clear quarry water, a fast flat closed bike course as well as a challenging off paved trail, to crushed limestone trail all in a recreation facility that is second to none and a short drive from downtown Chicago. That is why it is worth every bit of the name it boasts as the state championship event.

Celebrate Bloomington's Lincoln connections and the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War with a weekend of activities at multiple sites. Highlights will include Storyteller Brian Fox Ellis, Civil War generals, infantry and cavalry encampments, performances by the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band and the Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra. Living history interpreters in period dress, including Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln, will be on hand at numerous locations. Children's activities, carriage rides and demonstrations of period craftsmanship will also be features, along with cannon volleys and skirmishes between troops and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Quad City Balloon Festival

USTA U.S. Open National Playoffs
This event, which includes both men's and women's singles and mixed doubles, is being held in Decatur for the first time. The U.S. Open National Playoffs was created by the USTA in order to expand the footprint of the U.S. Open to cities nationwide. It does this by providing the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older to earn a berth into the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open National Playoffs men's and women's singles champions earn a wild card into the U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament, held the week prior to the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open National Playoffs mixed doubles champions receive a wild card into the main draw of the 2014 U.S. Open.

Veterans Memorial Hall
Dedicated in 1903 in ceremonies that included a speech by Teddy Roosevelt, Memorial Hall is a tribute to Rockford citizens who have served in the Armed Forces. Large wall plaques list names of fallen veterans, and cases in the main lobby, side rooms and the lower level display Armed Services artifacts including memories of the Civil War, the World Wars and Camp Grant. The renovated second floor auditorium is used by cultural groups for shows and presentations and is accessible via the elevator.

Located at Montgomery County Fairgrounds and celebrating the American farmer, this fair features free carnival rides in the evening, truck and tractor pulls, a demolition derby, ATV races, MMA fights, livestock shows, arts & crafts, culinary, floriculture, beer pong tournament, fair queen pageant and much more.
Main Street Mile
It's time to get your inner cheetah in shape! Main Street Mile leaves no misunderstanding in it's name. For those who have never heard of the race, it's a mile long run down Main Street here in Peoria. Participants train in hopes of being the fastest runner to the finish line. It's a great event for athletes, families, and children alike! Payment is due at the time of registration. Shirts are not guaranteed to anyone registering after June 26th. Those that register on or before June 16th are guaranteed their shirt size. Registration through June 1st is $20 for students and $25 for adults. Registration from June 2nd - June 26th is $25 for students and $30 for adults. The cost at Packet Pickup on June 27th and at race site on race day on June 28th is $30 for students and $35 for adults. Packet pick up is at Running Central from 10 - 7 pm on June 26th and 4 pm - 5:45 pm on Race Day June 27th at the Corner of Sheridan and Main at the former location of Running Central (700 W. Main Street). Racers will be grouped in heats based on time. Final heat assignments will be made on race day and are at the sole discretion of the race committee. You must run in the heat you were assigned. Running in a different heat than what you were assigned will result in no time for your mile run. Heats will be run in a revolving fashion. To be able to complete all heats on time, walkers must participate in the first heat. HEATS START AT 6:00pm. Please note: There is no parking at the start of the race. Parking is available downtown. Please note that all participants are responsible to get themselves to the starting line for their respective heats.

DeKalb County Barn Tour
The DeKalb County Barn Tour is a self-guided driving tour of 5 DeKalb area barns, plus the Glidden Homestead historic site and barn, and the DAAHA gallery. Enjoy 6 different styles of barn architecture and various activities related to farming throughout your tour. Photography is encouraged. Carload tickets include a tour booklet and map. Glidden Homestead & Historical Center – See the barn where Joseph Glidden first manufactured “The Winner” barbed wire, which earned Glidden the title “The Father of Barbed Wire”.
