Red Oak Nature Center Fall Fest
Come out to the woods for some fall color fun! Travel from station to station through the woods doing fun fall activities and crafts. This is a free event. No need to sign up, however parents must accompany their children. For groups of 10 or more, please call Red Oak to register.
YMCA Fall Festival at Camp Winnebago
The YMCA of Rock River Valley is teaming up with Twisted Crypt Productions to transform Camp Winnebago YMCA into the region's newest family-fun destination this fall. Family Fall Festival promises to be your family's new fall tradition complete with trick-or-treating in the Halloween Village, a two-mile corn maze, pumpkin patch, craft bazaar, live music, food and more (Saturdays and Sundays in October). Camp Winnebago YMCA, located one mile north of Rockford, rests in the wilderness just minutes from downtown. The property encompasses 150 acres and prides itself on being a year-round facility. This fall it will be decked out in a kid-friendly Halloween theme.

Stage Coach Players Present Night of the Living Dead
Fallout from a satellite probe shot to Venus returns to Earth carrying a mysterious radiation that transforms the unburied dead into flesh-eating zombies. Seven people trapped in an isolated farmhouse, held hostage by the ravenous ghouls, begin to turn on each other as the dead encroach. A gripping terror-filled monochromatic play that brings all the fright of the cult classic to life. Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra Fall Concert
The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit community orchestra which provides a place for area musicians to use their talents in an orchestral setting. The orchestra consists of professional, student, and dedicated amateur musicians. KSO presents its Fall Concert, Voilà Viola on Saturday, October 10th at 7:30 pm. The concert will be at NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, and there will be a free pre-concert lecture in the hall. Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra Halloween Concert
The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit community orchestra which provides a place for area musicians to use their talents in an orchestral setting. The orchestra consists of professional, student, and dedicated amateur musicians. The KSO will present its annual free concert of music with a theme appropriate for children and adults. The 5:30 concert will be repeated at 7:30, and there will be trick-or-treating in the building a half hour before the 5:30 concert. The concerts will take place at NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall.

Jonamac Orchard Demolition Weekend
It’s Pumpkin Demolition Weekend at Jonamac Orchard! Bring your pumpkin back, or use one of ours to smash, blast, crush, and destroy it in one of our many pumpkin demolition machines! Octoberfest Parade and Field Competition
The 20th annual Octoberfest Parade and Field Competition will be held on Saturday, October 17th featuring marching bands and a parade will traveling west from 33rd & Maine Street at 2:00 p.m. The field competition will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Flinn Stadium located at 44th and Maine Street. Food will be sold throughout the competition. Proceeds will benefit the music programs throughout the Quincy Public Schools. For more info call 217-224-3774
Jonamac Orchard Pumpkin PIckin’ Weekend
Come celebrate autumn during Pumpkin Pickin’ Weekend! Catch a free hayride to the pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and check out our Pumpkin Cannon as it blasts Pumpkins into the air. Grab a bag of freshly popped Kettle Corn, and enjoy a crackling apple wood fire in our Campfire Sites! There will be live music on Sunday from Noon to 4pm.
Locktoberfest Weekends at Lockwood Park
Locktoberfest is a family fun festival, with a different theme each week! Our festival features free and low fee paid activities. Each weekend we will offer carnival rides, games, children's farm, pony rides, wagon rides, pick your own pumpkin, seasonal food, face painting, and more! Parking is free. Saturdays and Sundays in October, plus Monday, October 12.

Great River Road Run
We offer a half marathon walk/run, 5K walk/run a 10K walk/run as well as a 13.1 and 55 mile bike ride. The race begins in Hamilton, Illinois, travels along the mighty Mississippi and ends in Nauvoo, Illinois at the state park. The Great River Road Run is one of the most scenic sport races in America and the proceeds benefit the Hancock County, Illinois Food Pantries.
Pumpkin Daze at Abbey Farms
Come to Abbey Farms for some good ol’ fashioned outdoor fun! Abbey Farms boasts one of the largest corn mazes in Kane County and has quickly become a favorite among visitors. Craft beer and wine tent available. Last entry is one hour before close and there are limited attractions on weekdays. Petting zoo and pony rides Saturday and Sunday only (weather permitting).
Historic Elsah Fall Shuttle Tours

Woodland Palace at Francis Park
A must-see attraction in Kewanee is the Woodland Palace at Francis Park, the first “green” home in Illinois. This unusual home was built way ahead of its time and is filled with engineering wonders. Learn about the quirky and eccentric man who built and lived in the home. Fred Francis was an artist, poet, inventor, builder, mathematician, engineer, and a naturist. Francis started to build the home in 1890 and worked on it for the next thirty-six years. It features hand-carved molding, a water purification system, and is the first house in the state of Illinois to have air-conditioning without the aid of electricity. View the sophisticated achievements of disappearing windows, doors, and more. Visit a home where everything seems to work in harmony. Woodland Palace is open seven days a week from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. April through October 1.
Thompson Square at the Effingham Performance Center
The duo of Keifer and Shawna Thompson are a force to be reckoned with in the modern day Country music landscape. Thompson Square has topped the radio charts with hits "Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not," "If I Didn't Have You" and "Everything I Shouldn't Be Thinking About." Thompson Square's new single "Trans Am" officially impacted Country radio in April 2015. The duo's third album is due later this year so get to the EPC this fall and see Thompson Square.
McDonald's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Santa Claus, Ronald McDonald and a cast of thousands bring you the 81st Anniversary of the McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade, marching down State Street on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th. Whether you're moving your feet to the melodic carols of marching bands, gazing skyward at the gigantic inflatable helium balloons making their way down the street, or waving at talented entertainers in decorative floats dispensing holiday cheer, there is fun to be had by all at the biggest holiday parade in Chicago. The McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade is the only parade in the city of Chicago to feature inflatable balloons every year. Started in the times of the Great Depression, the Parade has been lifting the spirits of Chicago and bringing the community together in celebration. Over 400,000 people lines the parade route on State Street.
The Charlie Daniels Band at the Effingham Performance Center
From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America's musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. The Charlie Daniels Band has populated the radio with such memorable hits as "Long Haired Country Boy," "The South's Gonna Do It Again," "In America," "The Legend of Wooley Swamp" and of course, his signature song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." This amazing artist will be at the Effingham Performance Center at 8 p.m.
