Itchy Brothers Chainsaw Art
Start off the winter Eagle Season at the Confluence Tower by watching the Itchy Brothers Chainsaw Art create amazing bald eagles using raw wood and their chainsaws. Luke Harris and Don Johnson, the duo that makes up Itchy Brothers, have over 30 years experience in chainsaw art. There will be pieces of finished wood sculptures available for sale.
Live Bald Eagle at TreeHouse Wildlife Center
There will be live bald eagles on display every weekend in January and February at the TreeHouse Wildlife Center. Free admission. Donations are appreciated.

Maple Syrup Time
For 4 weekends in February and early March, you're invited to walk with us into the Garden's sugar bush as we tap our maples. Help us collect the sap as it flows from the trees and cook it down to pure maple syrup. A great way to shake the winter blues!

Ringin' in the New Year in Downtown Naperville
Bring the whole family to enjoy the final day of 2015 shopping, dining and celebrating in Downtown Naperville. Enjoy free performers (face painters, caricature artists, magicians, henna tattoo artists, jugglers, stilt walkers, fortune teller and more) from 1-3pm. Get clues for a scavenger hunt. 50 randomly selected entries will receive a Downtown Naperville gift card. There will also be free trolley rides from 1-4pm and free Shutterbox photos and prizes for kids. Wander around downtown and see all the trains too! Follow the sky lights to the Covered Bridge and stroll down the Riverwalk just a short distance to the Carillon. There will be free hot chocolate at the Riverwalk eatery while you wait for the early evening Countdown to Ring in the New Year at 6pm.
Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition
As many as 70,000 visitors view these massive works of snow art each year. Teams from around the state will compete in Rockford for the right to represent Illinois in the 2017 U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition, and high school teams from the Rockford area will compete in the high school division the same week. The public is encouraged to cast their vote for the People's Choice award between 8:30am and 11:00am on January 23. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at 1:00pm in the Sinnissippi Park Maintenance Building. Sinnissippi Park is open to the public for sculpture viewing while weather permits. Viewing hours are daily from sunrise until 10:30pm. You may drive or walk through the park. Visitors are encouraged to take the time to walk through to maximize their experience and allow them to view the sculptures from all sides. Limited parking is available at Sinnissippi Park. Additional parking is available at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens just west of Sinnissippi Park across N. Second Street.
Bald Eagle Watch - Fulton
Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge & the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will be presenting the 31st Annual Bald Eagle Watch on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Eagle viewing will be held at Lock and Dam 13 in Fulton, Illinois off IL Hwy 84 starting at 8am.
9th Annual Crazy Horse Bluegrass Festival
The fun starts Friday night at 7 p.m. Two shows on Saturday and a gospel show on Sunday. Lots of fun and great music. Tickets can be purchased at the door if not camping. Line-up will be announced around March/April 2016. Everyone is welcome!
Santa Cause 5K
The Santa Cause 5K race will be a family friendly event for all ages; a great activity for the whole family to participate in during the holiday season. Join the cause and embrace your inner Santa. For our inaugural event, we are partnering with the Peoria Downtown Development Corporation and bringing the route into the Downtown Warehouse District to show-case major improvements to the area. In addition, all extra proceeds will benefit “Dazzle Downtown,” providing funds for festive lights and decor for the warehouse district.
PNC Winterfest at the Peoria Civic Center

Join refuge rangers from Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge for a morning of eagle watching. Visit multiple areas at the wildlife refuge that are known for eagles. A personal vehicle will be needed. This program will be on December 5th & 19th, January 2nd & 16th, February 6th & 20th, and March 5th & 19th at 9 am to 10 am each day.
