The festivities will also include apple wine tasting, kid’s activities and restaurant favorites. An apple pie walk (similar to a cake walk) will be held at 12:30pm where visitors will purchase tickets and take a walk for a chance to take home a fresh baked apple pie. Proceeds for the apple pie walk will be donated to the Friends of Pere Marquette Foundation. The Lodge will also host the Fifth Annual Pumpkin Roll at 2pm. Participants can bring their own pumpkin or purchase one at the festival to decorate for a competitive roll down the hill in front of the Lodge. Second and third place participants will win gift certificates for the Restaurant and the fastest pumpkin will win the grand prize of a free nights stay at the historic Lodge. The weekend of the Gazebo Art Festival, Western Illinois University will host its annual Al Sears Jazz Festival, sharing Chandler Park and providing a vibrant atmosphere for music and art lovers alike! The Great Morel Hunt will be held at 1:00 p.m. (weather and morel permitting). Join fellow hunters from all over the areas as they scan the grounds for these delicious delicacies. Step back in time to the days when frontier fur trappers met with fur traders and buyers during this reenactment festival at Pere Marquette State Park. The Second Annual Pere Marquette State Park Rendezvous will be a traditional Pre-1840 event with buckskinned re-enactors portraying primitive traders and campers. There will be period demonstrations, black powder and longbow shoots, camp music and food common to days on the Illinois frontier. The public is invited to attend and admission is free.
