Join over 1,000 cyclists, in the fight to stop diabetes, at the Alton Riverfront Amphitheater. Choose to ride 10, 30, 50 or 100 miles on routes that will take you through beautiful rural Illinois with various terrains, from flat to moderate rolling hills. Fight to the Finish 5k
A 5K race of extreme obstacles and challenging terrain to benefit Children’s Hospital of Illinois. The patients and families helped through Children’s Hospital face obstacles every day, some small and some life changing. As you pull yourself up a brick wall, crawl through the mud and fight to get through the water first, you’ll be reminded of those challenges. Funds raised from this event will be used to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Pediatric Healthy Living Program. Join us for the race, but plan for a fun day full of activities. There is something for everyone. Make your way through the vendor area on your way to enjoy a bite to eat from several local restaurants. Young visitors will enjoy the kid's activity area! This section opens at 9AM and admission is $5 per child (free to those who are racing in the Kids Run). The kid's activity area includes a hula hoop contest, healthy eating station, healthy activity station, face painting and glitter tattoos by the Zoo Lady & the Zoo Crew.
IHSA Bass Fishing Finals
Illinois is the first state in the nation to have its high school sports association sanction high school largemouth bass fishing. High school fishermen from all over the state descend on Carlyle to show their fishing skills, catching bass at Carlyle. Sanctioned by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Professional-style weigh-ins are conducted by FLW Outdoors and Wired2fish.com.

Progress City Cluster of Dog Shows
The Progress City Cluster is a combination of dog shows hosted by the Champaign Illinois Kennel Club, the Mattoon Kennel Club, and the Sandemac Kennel Club. The shows begin at 8:30 on all four days and run until mid afternoon. Spectators are welcome to watch all shows at a price of $5 per car load. Please note, though, that un-entered dogs are NOT permitted at any of the shows. Also, please do not pet any dog without the owner/handlers permission.
This Funfest is Mid America Motorworks way of saying "Thank You" to all VW enthusiasts. The three-day event is the best Air-Cooled enthusiasts party anywhere. The Oak Park Cycle Club, The Oak Park Regional Housing Center and Visit Oak Park invite you to the Wright Ride 2014. One of the best ways to discover the delights of Chicago's near western suburbs is on two wheels. A family-friendly event, the Wright Ride is not a race-but a leisurely jaunt through some of Chicagoland's most beautiful tree-lined and architecturally rich communities. Cyclists of all abilities are welcome: whether you're a novice, casual cyclist, or experienced long-distance rider, there's something here for everyone. A plus is that cycling is an eco-friendly way to tour the wealth of historically significant homes and structures throughout the area. With a choice of 10, 30, 50 and 62-mile routes, riders will be able to take in the scenery and charm of as many as 10 communities, including Oak Park, River Forest, Riverside, and Western Springs. Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem, and of course the rest is history. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. The Stadium at the Ballpark
The Stadium at the Ballpark at Rosemont is the 2,000-seat home of the Chicago Bandits, the 2011 NPF World Champion women's softball organization, East Leyden High School's girls softball team and the Rosemont School's boys and girls softball team. It is located on the west side of 1-294, and is the first facility of its kind in the nation built expressly for women's professional sports. The team plays 25 home games a year, from June through August.

Des Plaines River Trail Marathon Races
Welcome to year five of the Des Plaines River Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail. This is a truly special running course. The DPR Trail is a wide, crushed gravel track, free of roots and rocks, and very flat. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts This is a great track through alternating lush forests and open wetlands. With cool temperatures expected, and given the flat terrain and ideal running surface, you'll find these to be extremely fast courses. Registration is open until it reaches full capacity or October 10th. Register early and save.

Loop the Lakes 5K
The course winds through picturesque Century Park, one of Lake County's most beautiful community parks. Runners and walkers can enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of nature as they loop around Big Bear and Little Bear Lakes. This course does have small hills and inclines around the southernmost loop. Post-race snacks and water will be provided during & through the awards. Awards are given to best overall male and female, also, 1st and 2nd place for various age groupings. T-shirt sizes are only guaranteed for those participants that sign up before April 4, 2014
