Great River Road Run
It is time again for the Great River Road Run. Race your way to victory with the choice of a 2 mile route or a 10 mile route out and back on the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway, beginning in Alton. It's the most scenic run you'll ever make as you race to the finish along the Mississippi River and the majestic limestone bluffs.
Tour De Cure
Join over 1,000 cyclists, in the fight to stop diabetes at the Alton Riverfront Amphitheater. Choose to ride 10, 30, 50, 62, or 100 miles on routes that will take you through beautiful rural Illinois with various terrains, from flat to moderate rolling hills. Cyclists of all ages can find a route in this well-supported ride. Rest stops are located approximately every 10 miles and are stocked with water, snacks, beverages and first aid. Support vehicles patrol the routes for you assistance and safety. Following your ride enjoy an extraordinary post-event party that includes live music, great food and free admission into Raging Rivers Water Park in Grafton! 8th Annual Miles for Meso 5K Race
The annual Alton Miles for Meso 5K Race & 2K Fun Run/Walk will take place in downtown Alton. The race begins at the Simmons Hanly Conroy Law Firm building, across from Marquette High School, and winds through the historic, brick streets of downtown Alton. Cash prizes awarded. Mid-American Canoe & Kayak Race
Famously fun times! This historic, amateur canoe/kayak race is for paddlers of all ages and abilities, featuring 11 canoe divisions, 8 kayak divisions and 1 open (non-competitive) division. From the ultra-competitive to young families and newbies just wanting to enjoy a memorable paddling experience – it’s all here! Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival
The dragons are coming to Blue Island for the inaugural Chicago Southland Dragon Boat Festival. Watch these long 20-seat boats with a dragon decoration on the outside mimic the old war canoes of ancient Asian past. This ancient Chinese sport has become one of the fierce competitions throughout the world, and is growing rapidly in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States. 9AM-3PM.
Bike MS Tour De Farms
Thousand of cyclists to participate in Bike MS: Tour De Farms in DeKalb. Bike MS: Tour de Farms is one of the largest fundraisers of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter. Children under 12 years old are invited to participate in a special Bike MS course exclusively for junior riders. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older and submit a $15 registration fee. Also on Saturday, five Chicago-based bands will perform from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents of DeKalb and the surrounding communities are invited to attend. Registration for Bike MS is open to individual riders, teams, volunteers and virtual riders.
Biking with Beanzie
Biking with Beanzie is a recreational ride presented by Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb and sponsored by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.The ride route consists of primarily flat rural roads with some rolling terrain with estimated ride options of 23, 43, 63, 80, or 101 miles. All roads are well-paved, lightly traveled and posted with signs containing ride information and bits of Beanzie humor. This year also includes 3-mile, 5-mile, & 8-mile community bicycle pathway route options.
Funfest for Air-Cooled VW
FunFest for Air-Cooled VW's is MidAmerica Motorworks way of saying "Thank You" to all VW enthusiasts. The three day event is the best Air-Cooled enthusiasts party anywhere. Expect to see more than 1,000 VW's and 8, 000 enthusiasts. Enjoy seminars, races, vendors and more! And don't forget about the concert on Saturday night! It's sure to be a fun event! Hardin County Heritage Festival
The Hardin County Heritage Festival and Duck Race on the Ohio river celebrates the county’s rich heritage and history. The event includes exceptional period entertainment and activities to fill your weekend, including; 1800’s outdoor play, Civil War reenactment, pageant, quilt show, duck race, area craft and food vendors. Festivities also include a period ball, a Regal Women’s Tea and live entertainment throughout. Events are held in Elizabethtown (Saturday) and at the Hardin County K-12 School located East of Elizabethtown on 146. (Friday night pageant)
14th Annual Lincoln Douglas 5K and Fun Run
A series of short distances for children begins at 8 am: ages 8 and under – 100 yards; 9 to 10 – 200 yards; 11 to 12 – 400 yards. All finishers receive ribbons. The boy and girl winners of each age group will run a 100-yard dash following the 5K to determine “The Fasted Kid in Town!”. A One Mile Fun Run begins at 8:15 am. The course consists of one loop around the historic paved road inside Taylor Park. This is an untimed run and all finishers receive ribbons. The 5K begins at 8:35 am. The course consists of three loops around the paved road inside Taylor Park, a 5K (3.1 miles), wheel-measured certified course that is flat and fast designed to help runners achieve a personal best.
Galesburg Railroad Days
The 38th annual celebration of railroad history in downtown Galesburg. This event returns to Main Street. It marks the 160th year of the Railroad in Galesburg. Come by auto via I-74 or by rail via Amtrak. Galesburg is the gateway to the west and leading Amtrak Depot on the corridor to Quincy.
Geneseo Music Fest
A fun vibrant weekend in historic downtown Geneseo. Friday evening, the famous Doo-Dah Parade kicks off the weekend at 6 p.m. for the family weekend event. Gather in City Park to enjoy the community supper and watch the queen contest. Saturday, run with dad in the Maple City 4, a 4K race. Roam the farmer’s market and City Park, filled with arts and crafts, antique tractors, family activities, food, and music! Sunday dine on pancakes, peruse the arts and craft vendors while listening to melodies all day long. Your invited to stay the weekend and enjoy a friendly community with heart!
4th of July Celebration events includes: Freedom Run a 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run; a gospel show; a parade; free concert at the City Park and much more. Capping off the Freedom Fest is one of the largest fireworks display in Southern Illinois.
Chicago's Women's Mudderella
Mudderella is a 5+ mile obstacle mud run created for women, by women. Harvard Milk Days
Illinois' longest-running festival. Includes a carnival, food, petting zoo, races, fireworks, parade and much more.
“Ciao” on delicious Italian food and delight in a grand parade. This week long festival will include midway rides and games, live music from award winning artists, a bocce tournament, a grape stomp, a pasta cook-off, a kids pet and bike parade, a road race and an art contest.
Join the 6th annual Fort2Base Race. There are two event distances, 10 Nautical Mile or 3 Nautical Mile events (11.5 miles or 3.45 miles). The 10NM event begins at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park, runs along the North Shore Trail and finishes within the confines of Naval Station Great Lakes. The 3NM event is run solely within Naval Station Great Lakes. All registered participants receive a tech shirt and finishers medals. Runners and walkers welcome!

Prairie Chicken Chalk Art Festival
Celebrate creativity and public art downtown Kewanee, Illinois, July 15 – 17 during the Prairie Chicken Chalk Art Festival. Professional and amateur artists will compete and create colorful art on a concrete canvas sure to catch your eye. Shaun Hayes, Chicago Chalk Art Champ will be the featured performance artist. Shaun will dazzle you with his 3D illusionary chalk artistry. There is truly something for everyone of any age to enjoy, kid’s area with hand-on art children activities, art vendors and the Kewanee car show with vintage cars lining the streets of downtown Kewanee. Live music will be featured throughout downtown Kewanee while you stroll the car show, shop and dine in Kewanee’s specialty shops and restaurants. Color Run Prairie Run is a 5K run/walk with a twist of color. Start out sparkling clean, be prepared for color cloud bursts of blue, green, pink, purples, and yellow as you run along the course. As you finish you’ll look like a tie-dyed Hippie! A non-competitive run it is open to all ages! Be inspired by color! Pick up some chalk, and be an artist this July downtown Kewanee!
The 38th Annual Alpine Races
Presented by the Alpine Runners, this is a 1/2 Marathon, 5K Run/Walk, Youth Mile, and also offers kid's races. Something for all runners and the whole family. The races run through the streets and along the shores of beautiful Paulus Park in Lake Zurich. Gatorade, water, and time splits will be available along the course. Food and drinks will be available to participants at the finish line. No dogs, strollers, bikes, rollerblades or headphones are allowed in the races please.
Twilight Shuffle 5K Run
Run through the historic neighborhoods of the east side of Libertyville. Professional timing. Families are encouraged (no children under 9) to run. After finishing the course, all participants are invited to join their fellow racers for a fabulous post-race party (including light dinner and non-alcoholic drinks for all registered participants) at the new Mickey Finn's Brewery. No registrations will be accepted or processed after 12pm on race day.
