The Amazing Race – Starved Rock Style
Spend an exciting day solving devious clues each step of the way and getting to know the Starved Rock Lodge area a little more. Try to be the first to uncover the Legend of Starved Rock. Use your wits, energy and sense of adventure as you race against time and your fellow racers. Enjoy a post-race awards ceremony at the finish line. The Amazing Race is fantastic for families, but children under the age of 8 and guests with limited mobility may find this event too strenuous. Teams are of 2-4 people and at least one person must have a valid drivers license and their own transportation as there is driving involved. Check in for the race will be at 11:15 a.m in the Starved Rock Lodge Lobby. Race start time is 11:30 a.m. $50.00 per couple. 2015 Dates for Amazing Race are: May 17 June 14 & 28 July 12 & 26 August 16 & 30 September 13 & 20.
“Ciao” on delicious Italian food and delight in a grand parade. There will be midway rides and games, live music, a bocce tournament, a grape stomp, a pasta cook-off, a kids pet and bike parade, a road race and an art contest. Guardian Angel Bassett Bash & Waddle
Join in for two days of fun, friends and fundraising to help our favorite four-legged friends. This event, held at the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Park in Dwight, will raise money for the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue to help Basset Hounds in need of a home. The 'Largest Basset gathering in the World' includes a picnic, 'bassetball' and waddle. A weekend filled with Bassett’s, games, contests, entertainment & the huge finale of the Bassett Waddle with hundreds of Bassett’s leading off the Harvest Day’s Parade.
20th Annual Galena Triathlon & Duathlon

Galesburg Railroad Days
The 38th annual celebration of railroad history in downtown Galesburg. This event returns to Main Street. It marks the 160th year of the Railroad in Galesburg. Come by auto via I-74 or by rail via Amtrak. Galesburg is the gateway to the west and leading Amtrak Depot on the corridor to Quincy.
The oldest footrace in Southern IL. is held the 2nd Saturday in November each year on the Mississippi River levee in Cairo. A long sleeve t-shirt is given to each participant in the 5,000 & 10,000 meter run and awards will be presented to the winners.
7th Annual Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon
The annual Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon is one of the most popular spring running events in the Midwest… and, arguably, the country with its fast and flat course. With over 20,000 participants expected in the 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, relay and the youth run, the Illinois Marathon is a destination race for people from all over! From flat and fast courses to the Memorial Stadium 50-yard line finish to the rockin’ State Farm 27th Mile Celebrate Victory Bash, this has all the makings for the perfect spring getaway.
Fulton Dutch Days Festival
Many events celebrating Dutch heritage. Windmill tours, quilt show, 5 K walk/run, traditional street scrubbing, Dutch dancing, a fashion show of traditional Dutch costumes and parade Sunday at 3 PM.
4th of July Celebration events includes: Freedom Run a 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run; a Gospel Show; a Parade; Free Concert at the City Park and much more. Capping off the Freedom Fest is one of the largest fireworks display in Southern Illinois.
Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration
Don't miss experiencing 19th century life on the farm! Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms and will include children's games, craft and doll making, and hearth cooking. Visitors are encouraged to take part in period games and activities. Volunteers will demonstrate apple cider pressing, and food preservation. A number of artisans will be on site demonstrating their crafts including, woodcarving, flax processing, soap making, embroidery, pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing, wheat weaving, and tatting. Gerry Barker will bring his oxen, the Unreconstructed Civil War Band will perform, and be sure to catch the puppet show. Don't miss the Frolic 5K! A 5k run and mile walk to kick off the festivities on Saturday.
Join the 5th annual Fort2Base Race. There are two event distances, 10 Nautical Mile or 3 Nautical Mile events (11.5 miles or 3.45 miles). The 10NM event begins at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park, runs along the North Shore Trail and finishes within the confines of Naval Station Great Lakes. The 3NM event is run solely within Naval Station Great Lakes. All registered participants receive a tech shirt and finishers medals. Runners and walkers welcome!

This bicycle ride is a one-day tour of beautiful Jo Daviess County, Illinois that features hilly terrain, spectacular ridge top panoramas and long valley views. Choose one of four clearly marked routes, ranging from 26-63 miles, on rolling, low traffic, paved roads throughout our rural setting.
Abe’s Trail Trek
Trail run consists of a 5k, 10k and 15k run on trails through Lincoln's New Salem. In addition to the terrain of the 5k course, the 10k and 15k courses will take you past an 1800's reproduction flatboat, grist mill, up and down more than 150 steps, past a pioneer cemetery and on to the Finish Line at the museum.
Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem and, of course, the rest is history. This event features a 19 mile canoe/kayak race for the serious competitors along with a gentle float for adults and families on a shorter course. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. Following the race, you’ll want to take in the fun at Riverbank Lodge for the Awards Ceremony, fresh grilled food, live music and drinks. Enjoy summer fun in the sun in beautiful Petersburg, Illinois, just two miles north of Lincoln’s New Salem.
Mid-American Canoe and Kayak Race
Famously fun times! This historic, amateur canoe/kayak race is for paddlers of all ages and abilities, featuring 11 canoe divisions, 8 kayak divisions and 1 open (non-competitive) division. From the ultra-competitive to young families and newbies just wanting to enjoy a memorable paddling experience – it’s all here!
Tour De Donut
A 32 +/- bicycle race that starts and ends in Staunton, IL Firemen’s Park. While racing, riders stop at two check points (donut stops). While donut consumption is not mandatory, donuts consumed will reward the rider with 5 minutes off their time for each donut.
3rd Annual Run to Zero 5K
The 3rd annual Run to Zero 5K takes place on a scenic, point-to-point course in early spring to kick off the running season. Run includes a single loop, bringing you right back to the North Bay Pavilion where the Finish Line Celebration will be in full swing! With no hills and a few curves as the course follows the outline of the preserve, it is walkable in 45 minutes, so people can walk, run or both! The event also includes refreshments, entertainment, and post-race festivities complete with live music, games and activities
North Shore Classic Half Marathon and 5K
