Rock Island Grand Prix
The world's best drivers come to compete for one of go-karting's largest cash purses with payouts through ninth place. Last year attracted more than 30,000 spectators to the two days of racing. Festival week includes nightly outdoor concerts, driver's parade, fan autograph session and special Sunday post-race awards ceremony. Bike MS Tour De Farms
Thousand of cyclists to participate in Bike MS: Tour De Farms on June 21 & 22, 2014, in DeKalb. Bike MS: Tour de Farms is one of the largest fundraisers of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Illinois Chapter. Children under 12 years old are invited to participate in a special Bike MS course exclusively for junior riders, on Saturday, June 21, at 3 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older and submit a $15 registration fee. Also on Saturday, five Chicago-based bands will perform from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents of DeKalb and the surrounding communities are invited to attend. Registration for Bike MS is open to individual riders, teams, volunteers and virtual riders.

Guardian Angel Bassett Bash & Waddle

This event, held at the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Park in Dwight, will raise money for the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue to help Basset Hounds in need of a home. The 'Largest Basset gathering in the World' includes a picnic, 'bassetball' and waddle. A weekend filled with Bassett’s, games, contests, entertainment & the huge finale of the Bassett Waddle with hundreds of Bassett’s leading off the Harvest Day’s Parade.

Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration
Celebrate the arrival of autumn with Lincoln Log Cabin’s annual Harvest Frolic on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28 from 10am to 4pm daily. Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms including children’s games, doll making and hearth cooking. There will also be a three-legged race, a cast iron skillet toss, two-man saw contest and a “dipping cup race” and a special scavenger hunt will be open to children 12 years of age or younger. Visitors are encouraged to take part in these period games and activities. Demonstrations, food, period music and entertainment along with our featured visiting artisans will round out the weekend programing.
Fleet Feet Sports SuperSprint Triathlon
The Fleet Feet Sports SuperSprint Triathlon takes place at Montrose Avenue Beach. The course consists of a 375-meter swim, a 10K bike ride and a 2.5k run.
Join the 4th annual Fort2Base Race. There are two event distances, 10 Nautical Mile or 3 Nautical Mile events (11.5 miles or 3.45 miles). The 10NM event begins at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park, runs along the North Shore Trail and finishes within the confines of Naval Station Great Lakes. The 3NM event is run solely within Naval Station Great Lakes. All registered participants receive a tech shirt and finishers medals. Runners and walkers welcome!
Des Plaines River Trail Marathon Races
Welcome to year five of the Des Plaines River Trail Half-Marathon, Marathon and 50 Mile Ultra Marathon along the beautiful and fast Des Plaines River Trail. This is a truly special running course. The DPR Trail is a wide, crushed gravel track, free of roots and rocks, and very flat. All of the major road crossings are managed by way of bridges or viaducts This is a great track through alternating lush forests and open wetlands. With cool temperatures expected, and given the flat terrain and ideal running surface, you'll find these to be extremely fast courses. Registration is open until it reaches full capacity or October 10th. Register early and save.

Grayslake's 23rd Annual Family 5K Run and Walk

Annual Abe’s River Race
Abe’s Canoe Race is a celebration on the beautiful Sangamon River that led a young Abraham Lincoln to settle in New Salem, and of course the rest is history. This event features a 19 mile canoe/kayak race for the serious competitors along with a gentle float for adults and families on a shorter course. This is a great way to see the river that is largely undeveloped and unchanged. Tour De Cure
Join over 1,000 cyclists, in the fight to stop diabetes, at the Alton Riverfront Amphitheater. Choose to ride 10, 30, 50 or 100 miles on routes that will take you through beautiful rural Illinois with various terrains, from flat to moderate rolling hills. Cyclists of all ages can find a route that suits them in this well-supported ride. Rest stops are located approximately every 10 miles and are stocked with water, snacks, beverages and first aid. A 32 +/- bicycle race that starts and ends in Staunton, IL Firemen’s Park. While racing, riders stop at two check points (donut stops). While donut consumption is not mandatory, donuts consumed will reward the rider with 5 minutes off their time for each donut.

Loop the Lakes 5K
The course winds through picturesque Century Park, one of Lake County's most beautiful community parks. Runners and walkers can enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of nature as they loop around Big Bear and Little Bear Lakes. This course does have small hills and inclines around the southernmost loop. Post-race snacks and water will be provided during & through the awards. Awards are given to best overall male and female, also, 1st and 2nd place for various age groupings. T-shirt sizes are only guaranteed for those participants that sign up before April 4, 2014

Run River City Marathon
The 2014 Run River City Marathon is Peoria's premier running event featuring a full marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, 5k, and youth run. The 41st running of the STEAMBOAT CLASSIC 4 MILE, 15 KILOMETER and 4 KILOMETER RACES will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2014 in downtown Peoria. Regarded as the "World's Fastest Four Miles“, "Illinois Toughest 15K“ and “Peoria's Easiest 4K”, these running events are open and cater to runners and walkers of all ability levels. The Steamboat Classic Four Mile Race is famous as the world’s fastest course. All of the recognized world records for four miles have been set at the Steamboat Classic.The race starts in Downtown Peoria, makes its way to lower Glen Oak Park, returns to Downtown, and finishes with a downhill stretch to the Peoria RiverFront. The Steamboat Classic Fifteen Kilometer Race is regarded as Illinois Toughest 15 Km. Many impressive times have been run at the Steamboat Classic. The race starts in Downtown Peoria, makes its way to lower Glen Oak Park, completes two hilly loops in the Park, returns to Downtown, and finishes with a downhill stretch to the Peoria RiverFront. Lastly, The Steamboat 4K Fun Run/Walk is designed especially for younger runners (pre-high school ages) and individuals with disabilities (all ages). This timed, but non-competitive, event starts at 8:00 a.m. on June 14th at the Steamboat Classic Starting Line. It follows the Steamboat Classic course along Monroe, but turns at Spring Street, joins the 15 Km runners and returns via Madison and Hamilton to the Steamboat Classic Finish Line.

OSF Heritage Run
The 30th Annual Heritage Run includes 10k (6.2 miles) and 2-mile races along with a 2-mile walk and kids' fun run. Races go through downtown and neighborhoods and finish in front of the BMO Harris Bank Center. Proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of the YMCA Rock River Valley. OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is the major sponsor.
