Decatur-Forsyth Classic: The Road to the LPGA

The Decatur-Forsyth Classic is the longest running tournament on the LPGA Symetra Tour and the third longest running women’s golf tournament.

For 33 years, the Decatur-Forsyth Classic has been a fixture on the Decatur summer calendar. Fans throughout Central Illinois travel to Decatur to watch as 144 players from the United States, and around the world, compete to earn their spot on the LPGA Tour. Past Decatur Forsyth champions have included two-time winner Tammie Green, Marilyn Lovander, Vicky Hurst, four-time Rolex LPGA Player of the Year Award winner Lorena Ochoa, and Jennifer Song. The tournament at Hickory Point Golf Club will showcase a three day, 54 –hole stroke play professional tournament featuring a purse of $130,000.

This year, the Decatur Forsyth Classic will be offering the Tastes On The Tee event. This is a wine garden and craft beer tasting held on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This event will be featuring Arpeggio Winery, Castle Finn Winery, West of Wise Winery and Skeff Distributing. Tickets cost just $10.00 for 6 total tastings. If you would like to purchase a glass or a closed bottle, that may be purchased directly through the wineries at the event. Tickets can be purchased at the Decatur Area CVB, Events Plus, or the day of the event. The event is sponsored by Network Solutions Unlimited, with a special sponsorship by Ashley Furniture and Carpenters Local #270.
