Doors Open: Kornthal Church

Founded in 1853, by Austrian immigrants, this beautiful church has had services in both German and English. Carefully preserved and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is open daily from Easter through Thanksgiving Week-end.

Located 3 miles south of the Jonesboro Square on St. Hwy 127 South. The word "Kornthal" means Valley of Grain. Visitors will experience the 150-year-old church, much as it was in the early days of the 1900s (except with electricity and air-conditioning!) The interior woodwork and pews were all hand-hewn. Be sure to notice the all-seeing "Eye of God" above the elevated pulpit. The original bell from 1890 may also be rung.
