An original element of the General Plan of Riverside, Town Hall has served the Village of Riverside since being built in 1895. Town Hall is a local landmark in the chateau style architecture.

Designed by architect George Ashby, the landmark building is in the chateau style architecture with a massive and irregular form, steeply pitched, hipped roof with copper ridges and decorative finials. Constructed with a mixture of rusticated limestone and brick materials with decorative stone banding employed across the second floor at the level of the lintels; its parapeted wall dormers rise through the cornice line to feature tall, narrow windows with multiple panes, and towers at the corners of the building. The structure is listed in the 1972 Illinois Historic Structures Survey of the Illinois Department of Conservation.
