The Pekin Marigold Festival is always held the weekend after Labor Day in the Marigold Capital of the World - Pekin, Illinois.
In 1972, a group of Pekin residents gathered to investigate the possibility of a local festival. In their discussions, they decided it would be a way to honor Pekin's favorite son, Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen. The first festival was held in 1973, and now, young and old look forward to our festival.
Today, the festival not only brings together the community of Pekin, but the entire Central Illinois community. This weekend of food, drink, and games is enjoyed by everyone in the surrounding communities. There is something for everyone of all ages at the Pekin Marigold Festival. Carnival rides and games are available. Live music will be played all weekend. Attend the Marigold Festival Wine Tasting, hosted by the Pekin Country Club, or bring the family to the Friday Night Family Fun Fest and create memories that will last a lifetime. There are many other events so everyone is sure to find something they enjoy!
