DeKalb County History Center is one of six sites selected for this new exhibition produced by the Smithsonian Institution that will examine the impact of rural American culture upon the identity of the United States, past and present.
The grand opening of DeKalb County History Center will coincide with the opening of this Smithsonian traveling exhibit. Crossroads: Change in Rural America examines the impact of rural American culture upon the identity of the United States, past and present. Because there is much more to the story of rural America. The future is bright as small towns embrace the notion that their citizens and their cultural uniqueness are important assets. Economic innovation and a focus on the cultural facets that make small towns unique, comfortable, and desirable have helped many communities create their own renaissance.
