With nearly 8,000 acres of scenic beauty, Pere Marquette State Park is one of the most picturesque and beautiful locations on the Illinois River and the largest state park in Illinois.
Fishing tournaments, trail runs, archery competitions, road races and off-road cycling events have all been hosted here while utilizing the Pere Marquette Lodge & Conference Center. A class-A campground has 80 sites and several rent-a-cabins available on-site as well.
The Sam Vadalabene Bike Trail runs 20 miles from the park entrance to the City of Alton's Riverside Park along one of the most scenic roads in America, perfect for a road race or marathon.
Over 12 miles of hiking/running trails and another 20+ miles of equestrian trails snake through the park from the waterfront to the top of the bluffs that have been used for trail runs and other endurance competitions.
The park harbor features launching ramps and courtesy docks that allow for direct access to the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers for boating and fishing events and the surrounding green space makes for a perfect outdoor venue.
