Illinois Lincoln Highway Interpretive Mural - Frankfort

11008 West Lincoln Highway, Frankfort, IL 60423

Public Art

The Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition has produced 35 Interpretive Murals along this National Scenic Byway and its corridor in northern Illinois. These depict the history, heritage and events of the highway and impact on American travel.

This painting is a stunning depiction of the actual Eagle Scouts and Scout Masters who made a Nationwide Safety Tour along the Lincoln Highway in 1928 The story of their adventure, giving safety demonstrations daily along the route, “good road turns”, and helping out wherever needed is told in the exquisite mural. Rich sepia tones highlight the detailed images of the young men posing for the celebratory photo and authentic color is instilled in the mural to illustrate the larger than life concrete marker.  For more information about the Illinois Lincoln Highway and the surrounding area, please visit the Chicago Southland CVB at www.VisitChicagoSouthland.com.  And be sure to visit www.muralsofthelincolnhighway.com for additional information about the other murals along the Illinois Lincoln Highway.
