Haunted Decatur Ghost Tour

Join us for a journey back into the history of one of America's most haunted towns and discover not only our favorite haunted places, but new locations of crime, infamy and spirits that have never been featured on the tours before. "Remember Pearl Harbor"- Local hostesses set tea tables with their own heirloom china, crystal and silver. Rising in opulent splendor, sparkling centerpieces will salute the 1940s. Each guest will be served six fanciful sandwiches, four sumptuous desserts, a scone and raspberry tea. WWII military uniforms and apparel will be featured at a style show along with current holiday attire. Live patriotic music. Take-away program includes recipes. "Remember Pearl Harbor"- Hidden for 70 years, glamorous posters for 1940s high school dances and games will be revealed at the home of a Pearl Harbor hero and his 87-year-old artist widow. Other sites showcase Victorian mansions, home flippers' talents, a house stager's decor secrets, and the makeover of phone company into a bachelor's haven. Gift vendors, lavish free treats. Start your tour at welcome/ticket center at Cottage Rose Gift Shoppe, east side, historic Taylorville Square.
Central Illinois Jazz Festival
Put on by Decatur’s Juvae Jazz Society, this celebration of all types of jazz is held at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel. Hundreds of folks come from all around the Midwest to spend the weekend partying, dancing, parading and listening to great jazz musicians with their friends. Book early as the festival fills up fast! The three day, multiple venue festival features world class musicians under one roof. Includes lots of events such as New Orleans style Umbrella Parade, Pianorama, Banjorama, Late Night Jam Session, and Sunday Jazz Brunch. Bands plus special guest performers from East and West Coast and points in between play your favorite music style - Chicago, New Orleans, Swing, Ragtime and Boogie Woogie Piano.
