The land for Scripps Park was donated by the Scripps family. The park was the site of the homestead of the Scripps family, pioneers in journalism. Scripps Park Golf Course was originally built as a 9-hole course in 1923. The original 9 has many rolling fairways with bunkered greens and challenging water hazards. All 18 holes are irrigated and provide consistent play from early spring to late fall. The course is long enough to be enjoyably challenging but easily accessible to walkers as well as cart players.
