Creekside Vineyards Winery & Tasting Room
Welcome to the realm of wine, weekend wanderlust, midweek getaways, and what we like to call Wine-derful! Just south of the Quad Cities, wine enthusiasts can discover their own "hidden gem" of a vintage at Creekside Vineyards Winery & Tasting Room. This circa 1938 building, once a family diner & service station, now offers travelers a stopover of good conversation & fantastic artisan wines.
Jo and Al, husband and wife vintners, produce wines made from local fruits of nearby orchards and berry fields. Apples make a nice dry to resemble Chardinay. Blackberries are a little sweet with a dry finish. Strawberries are sweet and smooth. Their country store has home-made jellies, candies, pickles, beef jerky and one of the best salsas in Illinois. Come in for a free taste sample or to browse the gift shop.
Princeton Christmas Open House
On Friday November 20th - Sunday, November 22, come see the Spectacular Christmas Tree Lighting at Darius Miller Park followed by a candy cane hunt at Soldiers and Sailors Park. The History Museum

Eagle Watching with Ranger
Join refuge rangers from Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge for a morning of eagle watching. Visit multiple areas at the wildlife refuge that are known for eagles. A personal vehicle will be needed. Attendees are reminded to dress for the weather. Open to all ages. Space is limited, call 618-883-2524 to register in advance. This program will be on December 5th & 19th, January 2nd & 16th, February 6th & 20th, and March 5th & 19th at 9 am to 10 am each day.

Ghost and goblins beware, the "Most Haunted Small Town in America" will be out in full force at the annual Halloween Parade. See Alton's scariest costumes and comical characters with over 80 participants including floats, bands and parade flair.

Waterloo's Christmas on the Square
Please join us in historic downtown Waterloo for our 34th Annual Christmas on the Square Weekend! This tradition takes place every year on Thanksgiving weekend. Visit the participating merchants for a chance to win great prizes! Visit with Santa and enjoy a free carriage ride from Noon-4 p.m. each day! Be sure to grab a great viewing spot for the annual glow holiday lighted parade, taking place on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. followed with a post-parade chili supper. On Sunday, vote on your favorite decorated lamppost, located around the courthouse square! Enjoy a free concert, compliments of the Waterloo Municipal Band on Sunday at 1 p.m., and enjoy kettle corn on the courthouse square. So much fun!

Visit Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge to learn about bald eagles and how to watch for them, then venture out to watch for eagles with a refuge ranger. Experienced eagle watchers will be set up with viewing scopes at various locations at the wildlife refuge. Kids crafts will be available at the visitor center. Shadows of the Blue & Gray, Civil War Festival
On Saturday and Sunday, October 10th & 11th, Shadows of the Blue & Gray will be at City County Park in Princeton. Come out and enjoy the sights of the Civil War Reenactment with period dance, demonstrations of crafts from the era by period artisans and talented storytellers and musicians to bring the times alive! This is an annual event that focuses on preserving & promoting Civil War era history through living history artisans, battle reenactments, music, & storytellers. We focus on education and teaching history by bringing it to life & making it exciting!

The Watkins Place is private and secluded with access to the hiking trails at the McCully Heritage Project. Annual Quilt & Church tour
Quilts are displayed in several historical churches in the Villages of Kampsville, Hardin and Brussels. Beautiful quilts that belong to the residents of Calhoun County are on display in the Churches along with quilt exhibits and activities in Church Halls. Calhoun County communities join together to share the beauty and history of quilts that have been in local families as far back as the 1800s. There are over one hundred(100) quilts on display in the various locations. A brief history of each quilt will be provided so visitors can appreciate the craftsmanship and stories that are uniquely associated with them. Historic Churches Shuttle Tours
Take a tour of spectacular churches that hold so many treasured tales for this historic river town. During the “Steeple Chase” tour, you will have a chance to explore three of these following historic churches: Sts. Home for the Holidays
Visit historic Elsah during the holiday season and take a tour of historic homes, the village museum, churches and bed and breakfasts. There is also an option to ride in a horse-drawn carriage or decorated wagon with a team of horses. Ticket price includes a horse-drawn carriage ride. Lunch is available and will be served in Farley's Hall for an additional charge. Advance tickets are $15 per person. Event day tickets are $18 per person. Ticket prices do not include food. Colors over the Confluence
Celebrate the start of Fall at the Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower during the popular Colors Over the Confluence! Itchy Brothers Wood Carvers will be on hand to demonstrate their chain saw carving skills. Visitors will be able to purchase completed chainsaw art throughout the day. A variety of craft vendors and food vendors will also be on site. The festival is free. There is a charge to tour the Tower.
