Fall Color Watch

Illinois Fall Color Update

Colorful foliage is still sporadically placed among branches of the trees; however as the days continue further into the fall season, there are more crisp, freshly fallen leaves strewn across the ground.

Maple trees in Northern Illinois are predominantly yellow, with splatters of peachy-orange and red tones. Many of the oak trees have dropped their acorns, and the smooth, greenish-white bark of the sycamore trees are becoming increasingly prevalent due to the loss of leaves. Western Illinois still has a breadth of foliage in gorgeous colors of the harvest, especially the maroon and shades of bronze colors on the oak tree leaves. Southern Illinois still has pockets of pretty colors in shades of red, orange and yellow.
