Since 1967, the Apple 'n Pork Festival with its delightful aroma of smoked ham and spicy apple butter, has ushered in autumn for Dewitt County. From its beginning as a modest event, centered around a kettle of soup and stack of sandwiches, the festival has grown to one of the state's favorite fall festivals. Wear comfortable shoes and plan to spend the day strolling through more than 25 booths offering old-fashioned foods. More than 200 dealers offer an array of crafts, antiques and more at the flea market located on the grounds adjoining the festival grounds.
The event also features live musical entertainment; a Civil War encampment; artisan demonstrations and sales; pony rides; childrens' miniature train rides; tomahawk throwing; living history interpreters; antique tractor show; farm museum; meal grinding, rope making and blacksmithing demonstrations; tours of the restored home of Abraham Lincoln's friend and law partner, C.H. Moore; and more. Located at C. H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum and throughout Clinton. Tram and bus service to various locations available for a small fee.
