The 2nd Annual Bellson Music Fest is being held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the RB&W District Park located along the beautiful Rock River in Rock Falls.
The Annual Bellson Music Fest is held to carry out the legacy of Louie Bellson who was born in Rock Falls and became the renowned drummer, composer/arranger and band leader. Five bands will be performing throughout the day playing the best in jazz, blues and more.
The Bellson Music Fest begins with a drum clinic from 11 am to 12 noon at the McCormick Event Center, which is located across the street from the RB& W Park. Percussion legend, Walfredo Reyes, Jr., also known as drummer for the band “Chicago," is conducting the drum clinic.
Starting at noon, five bands playing jazz, blues and a variety of music honoring Louie Bellson will be performing in the RB&W District amphitheater. Scheduled to perform is the Walfredo Reyes, Jr. Trio, consisting of Reyes, Ben Tweedt and Matt Wiles who come together to play a wide variety of music styles. Also performing will be Josh Duffee & His Orchestra,the BAHA Band, Starlight Blues Theater Band, and the Michael Conrad Trio.
Bellson was once referred to by Duke Ellington as “not only the world’s greatest drummer and the world’s greatest musician!” Louie Bellson has expressed himself on drums since age three. As an internationally acclaimed artist, Bellson performed in most of the major capitals around the world.
