Downtown will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the weekend and will be packed full of activities for the young and young at heart.
Make plans to come to downtown Effingham to kick off your holiday season at Hometown Christmas, sponsored by the Downtown Effingham Business Group.
More than a dozen vendors and artisans will be located on the Old Courthouse Lawn offering a variety of gift and food items from 4pm - 7pm. The Centenary United Methodist Church will host a live nativity display from 3:30pm - 4pm. Attendees will also enjoy meeting and having a photo op with live reindeer from Dahnke Farms, special holiday characters, music, horse drawn carriage rides, a visit with Santa, Christmas cookie decorating, children's tractor pulled train rides and other family friendly activities throughout the afternoon.
Welcome Santa as he joins our Lighted Christmas Parade beginning at 5pm. The Lighted Christmas Parade will travel down Jefferson St., bringing Santa to his house on the Old Courthouse Square.The St. Anthony Intermediate Choir will be performing at 5:00 pm. The official City of Effingham Community Christmas Tree Lighting will be held at approximately 5:30 pm on the Old Courthouse Lawn.
