Quincy Juneteenth

Fri, Jun 12 – Sun, Jun 14, 2026

North 5th St & Maine St, Quincy, IL 62301

Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African-American holiday. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Join us in Quincy as we celebrate all weekend long!

We are proud to invite you to join us for a truly special milestone: This year, we celebrate our Fifth (Quinquennial) annual Quincy Community Juneteenth Trichotomy of Celebrations here in Quincy, IL. This is a momentous milestone, and we are so proud to invite all of you to celebrate our freedom with us.

We will kick this year off with our Community Gala on June 12th, 2026, at the Oakley Lindsay Center. This great event will start at 5pm with a social hour, 6-7pm a scrumptious dinner by Oakley Lindsay chefs and informative program. At 7pm we will have some great entertainment from soulful artist Tirvarrus Hadley of Mississippi plus dance band Bo-Fiya. We will conclude with a dance party led by DJ Stew of St. Louis. You don’t want to miss this so get your dancing shoes on and come ready to party the night away!

On June 13 join us downtown in Washington Park (N. 5th St.) from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM for a day filled with community spirit. This year’s festival includes:

  • Entertainment: PC Band, Rhoda G. on Saxophone, Redd Boyz, The Beats Arts Academny, and Black Girls Jump!
  • Activities: Food and local business vendors, Bingo, cake walk, dancing, and historical re-enactments.
  • Kids Zone: Featuring the Quincy Children’s Museum’s bubble machine, a Llama-Llama Kids Dance Party, kiddie train rides, bounce houses, face painting, snow cones, and more!

Sunday, June 14th, 2026, we will conclude with a Musical Concert put on by Gabrielle (Gabby) Green starting at 2pm at Salem United Church of Christ. She will be performing several different musical genres; this is going to be something special. Gabby is a music teacher with the Chicago Public schools, born and raised here in Quincy, Illinois.
