Cord Fitch Memorial Southern Illinois Steel Guitar Show

Thu, Apr 18 – Sat, Apr 20, 2024 • 5:00pm - 10:00pm

108 N. 9th St., Mount Vernon, IL 62864

Three day classic country music concert with known singers featuring the steel guitar!

Welcome to the 21st Annual Southern Illinois Steel Guitar Show. This year we have selected a new venue for our show, the Granada Theatre located in downtown Mt Vernon, IL. The historical Granada was recently converted from a movie theatre to a live performance center. Witness a unique quality such as a very large performance stage with elevated seating for the show goers. No matter where you are seated in the theatre, you have a great view of the show. We are very excited about the new venue. This year we have Mel Tillis Jr. performing many of Mel seniors tunes as well as some of his own! Country music icon Tony Booth will be delivering his many hits like "Keys in the Maillbox". Norm Hamlet, a 2-time hall of fame legendary American steel guitarist who performed, recorded, and toured with Merle Haggard for 49 years. Additionally, he was also band leader for Merle's band "The Strangers" winning 8 ACM awards during his time as band leader. Norm teams up with Mario Carboni, also known as the Honky-Tonk Rebel, and they travel all over the country to entertain fans, showcasing select hits from the Bakersfield Sound.
And returning by popular demand, the incredible Leona Williams and Ron Williams.
Steel Players performances include Mike McGee, Mike Sweeney, Gary Lloyd, Barry Wheeler, Tracer James, Darrel Cummings, a trio of young blood steeler's from Central Illinois, The guy that for years on the road looked at the back side of Bocephus and now tours with Jamey Johnson, the sensational, Cowboy Eddie Long!
Dennis Stroughmatt will be helping out all weekend on the stage and do not miss his show, as he always has a great and memorable performance.
We have a tremendous group of steel players local and not so local.
Lets not forget our fabulous stage band members.
Finally, the most important reason we put on this steel guitar show is to help support and raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. All proceeds beyond the operating expenses of the corporation are donated to Shriner's Hospitals for Children. For more information call (618) 967-4635.
