Beautiful pieces of surrealist Mexican folk art are displayed across Cantigny Park during Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World, an exhibit celebrating art and Mexican culture.
You're cordially invited to see beautiful, vibrant Mexican folk art throughout the grounds of Cantigny Park as part of the "Alebrijes: Creatures of a Dream World" exhibit opening this summer. This outdoor art display features dozens of mythical animals masterfully crafted by artists with decades of experience in this traditional Mexican art style.
The word alebrijes—pronounced ah-leh-bree-hehs—refers to imaginary creatures that possess elements from different animals. They originated in the 1930s from the vivid dreams of Mexico City artist Pedro Linares. The artistic tradition of alebrijes gained popular exposure in the United States with Coco, the 2017 Disney/Pixar film.
Experience a mythical dream world in Cantigny Park.
