Baxter’s Vineyards, the oldest winery in the state of Illinois, is a small family-owned winery located in the historic town of Nauvoo, that features a tasting room, gift shop, and self-guided winery tour, outdoor patio and full service bar.
Baxter’s was established in 1857 by Emile and Annette Baxter after the disbandment of the Icarian community at Nauvoo. Today, Baxter’s Vineyards continues as the fifth generation of Baxter’s, co-owners, Kelly and Brenda Logan, grow over seventeen acres of grapes and apples, making approximately 5,000 gallons of wine. Also featured on the property is the Nauvoo Grand Bed & Breakfast, which provides luxury accommodations in a historic Baxter home.
