Columbia Woods Forest Preserve offers a relaxing place to bike, walk, canoe, fish and enjoy a picnic.
Columbia Woods is part of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County and ideally situated along the Des Plaines River in Willow Springs. The forest preserve is also home to biking trails and a launching pad for canoeing in the Des Plaines River. A host for the event, “A River Thru History," which is held each September and takes you back 200 years into Chicago’s past with a festive gathering of fur trappers, settles, craftsmen, along the banks of the Des Plaines River. Columbia Woods allows you to feel like you are out of the city and soak in the beauty of the Des Plaines River.
