Join the City of Aurora and Aurora’s Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board for the 11th annual Fiestas Patrias celebration at RiverEdge Park on September 9 and 10!

Aurora’s rich Hispanic culture will once again be on display, as top-flight food vendors, musicians, and entertainers will “pack the park” to help raise scholarship funds for college-bound Latino Aurorans.

Headlining Saturday’s performers is Grammy-winning, international sensation Los Tucanes de Tijuana! In the midst of a worldwide tour, Tucanes will be making a stop here at Fiestas Patrias to perform hit singles “La Chona,” “Amor Platónico,” “El Amor Soñado,” and “El Águila Blanca,” among others. They have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and have obtained 34 gold and 30 platinum records. Tucanes also became the first regional Mexican norteño group to garner a global film prize, the Monaco International Film Festival’s Angel Film Award, for its documentary.

Bands Nuevo Terreno, Revolución de Amor, and La Sombra are also scheduled to perform, and will open for Los Tucanes.

On Sunday, Mi Banda El Mexicano and Banda Maguey are set to perform. Mi Banda El Mexicano is a technobanda band from Alvarado, Veracruz, Mexico. Winners of multiple Furia Musical Awards, they are the composers of the hit songs “La Morena,” “La Bota,” and “Ramito de Violetas.” Their cover of “Ramito” sold more than 1 million copies and spent 20 weeks on the Billboard charts.

Banda Maguey, a regional Mexican band from Jalisco, Mexico, have been called one of the two most successful exponents of the Technobanda sound. They initially took over the radio waves in 1994, with their debut album Tumbando Caña producing hits such as “El Alacran” and “Lástima Que No Fui Yo.” Banda Maguey has released 16 albums throughout their 30 years together. Empresario De Durango is set to open for both groups.
