The Great Western Freedom 4 Run & Walk is a 4-mile race that takes place on the Great Western Trail in Leroy Oakes Forest Preserve on the Fourth of July.

The four miles takes place on a stretch of the famous Great Western Trail, a crushed limestone trail perfect for runners looking for a fun run or competing for time on a mostly flat trail.
