Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm

The Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Hidden Lakes Trout Farm is located at Hidden Oaks Preserve in Bolingbrook. Hidden Lakes offers access to shoreline fishing and the Tackle Box, which sells bait, tackle and concessions. Fishing poles with closed-face spincast reels are available to use for free for the day. The preserve offers one picnic shelter for rental: Burr Oaks Shelter, which has a permit capacity of 50 people. Hidden Lakes includes a 0.39-mile paved segment of the DuPage River Trail and provides access to an additional 3.71-mile portion of the trail at the Forest Preserve’s Whalon Lake. Hidden Oaks is immediately south of Whalon Lake, and a bridge spanning the East Branch of the DuPage River connects the two preserves. The DuPage River Trail is ideal for biking, hiking, running, in-line skating, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Hidden Lakes also hosts fishing derbies, including trout season fishing, and numerous outdoor programs year-round.
