The Plein Air Exhibition invites artists to display outdoor-painted works that capture the changing light and natural scenes, running October 22–November 15 at The Next Picture Show in Dixon.
The Next Picture Show is having a combined exhibition from October 22-November 15. Along with this show, the Plein Air Art Exhibition and the Stories in Portraits Exhibition run concurrently in the gallery.
En plein air, or plein-air painting, is painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. This class of paintings started in the Impressionist period, when capturing the mood of daylight intrigued many artists.
The Rock River Valley Painters Guild sponsors the Plein Air Exhibition. The opening reception and award and Awards announcements will be held on October 24, 6-8 p.m. for both exhibitions.
