This hike is located on a former quarry site near Valmeyer. Land and water Reserve is 600+ acres owned by the Village of Valmeyer.
The Salt Lick Trail features steep climbs, creek crossings, super flat doubletrack, amazing views on the bluffs, and a short road section. This trail gives you a little bit of everything and is a hidden gem too!
Try this 2.9-mile loop trail near Valmeyer, Illinois. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1hr 18 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, so you will likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
