Tired of taking care of everyone but you?

Then gather your gal pals for this three-day getaway to Northwest Illinois that will give you a break from your routine and offer time to relax, unwind and have fun! This itinerary gives you lunch on a paddlewheel boat, brewery stops, wine tastings, shopping, eating at out-of-the-ordinary spots and tubing on the Mississippi River!

Day 1:

Oregon

  • Boat in a river.

Your weekend getaway starts with lunch and a scenic riverboat tour. The Pride of Oregon is an authentic paddle wheel boat where you will enjoy lunch and a picturesque two-hour tour of the Rock River where the iconic Black Hawk Statue, a 48-ft landmark, stands guard over the Rock River Valley. Following the tour, it’s on to cocktail hour and appetizers at the Ogle County Brewery, located in a newly renovated brick building in the heart of downtown Oregon. You’ll take time to check into the Pinehill Inn B&B and relax as you enjoy the historic ambience, and then it’s on to dinner at Blackhawk Steakpit, a local favorite serving the best fire-grilled steaks or whatever suits your fancy. Return to the Pinehill Inn for a nightcap and relax with your gal pals.

Day 2:

Dixon

  • Interior of Crystal Cork Wine Shop.

Following your breakfast at the B&B, enjoy a 15-minute drive along the Rock River as you travel to Dixon for a day that includes strolling their riverfront and heading downtown to shop at a variety of one-of-a-kind boutiques and stores. Check out the trendy threads, shoes and accessories at Asterisk Boutique, J Boutique, or Revive Boutique. Books on First is a classic, old-style bookstore that also offers children’s toys and books, and a variety of coffees and specialty drinks. Take in lunch downtown or at Flynnie’s Diner where you can check out their wide menu and quaint farmhouse style. Relax after shopping with wine or martinis at the Crystal Cork Wine Shoppe where you can sip and enjoy the local art displayed on the walls. Check in at the Dixon Quality Inn & Suites to freshen up and then head to Somkit, an authentic Thai restaurant and Japanese sushi bar.

Day 3:

Savanna

  • People relax in inflatables on the river.

Put on your shades, casual clothes and sunscreen for a day on the river! A scenic 45-minute drive takes you to Savanna, located on the Mississippi River. cSavanna Adventures will be waiting to welcome you for a four-hour tubing trip that provides transportation, tubes and life vests for your adventure! Relax and enjoy the view as you float by some of the most gorgeous spots along the river. Once you are back on dry land, check in at the Savanna Inn and Suites to freshen up and then head out to take in the fun atmosphere of downtown Savanna. Here, you can stop by Savanna Marketplace, River Valley Designs, Sassy Stems, Frank Fritz Antiques and Iron Horse Social Club. Circa 1888 is the perfect spot for a farm-to-table dinner while enjoying sunset views overlooking the Mississippi River on the deck. Check out the local nightlife that usually includes live music or retire to Savanna Inn & Suites.
