3 Days 33 Miles

Dahinda, Galesburg

from the local experts at Galesburg Tourism and Visitors Bureau

A fun guys getaway in Historic Galesburg, complete with golf, good food, great brews and the outdoors.

Day 1:

Galesburg & Dahinda

  • Pizza house exterior

With a big day of golf ahead, it will be good to start with a delicious pastry and cup of coffee at the Carriage House on historic Seminary Street in downtown Galesburg. After filling up, make the short trek to Bunker Links located in Galesburg’s Lincoln Park. This 18-hole, par 71 course measures 6,100 yards and is a fun layout with rolling terrain. Water comes into play on six holes, and the course provides an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels.

After working up an appetite on the links, try some of the great pizza that Galesburg has to offer. Enjoy unique creations such as the Beef & Blue Pizza at baked or the Chicken Wing Taco Pizza at Jimmy’s Pizza. For delicious traditional offerings, try Budde’s Pizza and The Pizza House, which has been serving Galesburg for over 65 years!

With lunch complete, you may want to try another nine holes or rest up before the night activities at one of our outstanding accommodations. The newly remodeled Holiday Inn Express gives you the latest in comfort and amenities, or you can check out one of the unique bed and breakfasts in our area such as the Barn Bed & Breakfast in nearby Dahinda.

Day 2:

  • Old cars in front of a golf course

Start your second day with a quick breakfast at Innkeeper’s located in downtown Galesburg. Fresh roasted coffee, pastries and a full menu await you in a vibrant coffeehouse environment with friendly service.

From Innkeeper’s, make your way just south of Galesburg to your next 18 hole adventure at Lake Bracken Country Club. Test your skill on this beautiful layout with four sets of tees to appeal to all skill levels. Grab some lunch at the course after your round and maybe try another nine or eighteen.

After golf, venture over to the old firehouse and police station in Galesburg for a flight of quality and locally made beer at Iron Spike. Iron Spike Brewing Company is a craft brewery and restaurant located in the town’s firehouse that was active from 1905 to 1970. Enjoy great food and quality brews before heading upstairs to the “Players Lounge,” which feature spool tables, dart boards and a full bar. Hang out and sample their delectable beer like the Handcar Hefe or Pea-Nutbuster Porter.

Day 3:

  • A lake

To begin your final day in Galesburg, get your fill of delicious and savory crepes from the Landmark Cafe & Creperie. From there, head to Lake Storey for a day filled with kayaking, canoeing or fishing. Constructed in 1927 so locomotives would have soft water to run through them, Lake Storey is the perfect place to spend your day. Home to channel catfish, walleye and muskie, Lake Storey is great fun for the avid fisherman.
