Artisan candle studio & general store in historic Batavia.
In 2019, Hearth & Hammer General officially opened its doors to the public at 319 Main Street in the historic district of Batavia, Illinois. The store had always been the long-term dream for Hearth & Hammer literary candles—to have a place where we could invite folks into our workspace, shop for goods, and see where it's all made—and that's exactly what we've created.
We've always believed that the products we bring into our homes should have purpose and be made to last. We believe in supporting not only our local artisan community, but also American-made businesses throughout the country. Hearth & Hammer General focuses on providing quality crafted goods, that come with a story behind them—just as our candles have done since the beginning. We want everyone who visits to walk away feeling like they’ve experienced a piece of Batavia and to be reminded that the concept of the neighborhood general store is still alive and well.
We host candle-making, art, and literary focused workshops. We hope to become a regular stop in our community for residents and visitors alike. You can expect to see a constant rotation of new products, locally designed goods and unique one of a kind items.
