Loud Thunder began in 1944 with the purchase of a 1,240-acre ranch from Charles Searle. Adjacent properties were later purchased creating the existing park that now totals 1,480 acres.
Loud Thunder Forest Preserve’s 1,480 acres is home to picnic shelters, campgrounds, trails, biking, two playgrounds, and Lake George. Pick out your favorite picnic spot and enjoy the surroundings.
