Learn why The Macoupin County Courthouse is also known as The Million Dollar Courthouse!
The Million Dollar Courthouse got its name shortly after the Civil War in 1867. The officials in Macoupin County decided to build a new courthouse, one more befitting a prosperous county, at the cost of one million dollars!
