Featuring over 150 rare items from the Newberry's collection, Religious Change and Print, 1450-1700 will explore how early adopters of print, like Martin Luther, used the medium to bypass the Catholic Church and speak directly to their fellow Europeans. In the process, they challenged long-held religious beliefs, disrupted traditional power dynamics, and shook medieval European society to its core.With documents ranging from Bibles, pamphlets, and poems to maps, music, and art, Religious Change and Print shows how the intertwining of religion and print led to social, cultural, and political changes that even revolutionaries had trouble keeping up with.
